dream eyes

I watched this film some time ago. Because it was a foreign language film, I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time. I felt very tired many times because of the subtitles, so I took the computer to play next to it. Repeatedly appeared in my mind, and finally let me feel the charm of this film.

Synopsis: Benjamin is a retired prosecutor who wants to write a book about a rape and murder case many years ago. The case happened 25 years ago. Beautiful Liliana was brutally raped and killed in the apartment. At that time, the judiciary was corrupt. Benjamin's colleagues randomly found 2 people to blame, but Benjamin and Liliana's husband Duka knew the case was another person. A year later, they finally caught the prisoner, but the police who sentenced the case acquitted the prisoner and gave the prisoner a chance to take revenge on Benjamin, but accidentally killed Benjamin's friend. Benjamin was with his daughter at the time. The boss fell in love, but had to leave the city. Twenty-five years later, Benjamin used the opportunity to write a book to visit the female boss and Duka, know the ending of the prisoner, and resolve the relationship after a 25-year gap.

Everyone has a different understanding after watching this film, but for me it's three sentences and one exclamation.

1. "Please let him talk to me" is what the inmate said to Benjamin after more than 20 years in prison.

Crime is not terrible, and death is not terrible. What is terrible is long-term loneliness. I never thought that the death penalty should be given to prisoners. It is an easy solution, not to mention humanitarianism. Many criminals are unscrupulous, and they are a hero after 18 years? Is mercy in the wrong place?

2. "Why don't you take me with you?" A sentence that Jemingzheng's female boss said to him 25 years later.

Women are rational and emotional, especially fickle and good at concealing. Don't decide for yourself whether the other party will agree or not, you will know only if you ask. But I love this kind of love. Today's fast food love, if it sounds good, is open and free, but it has no charm. Infatuation has become a derogatory term, rationality has become the mainstream, and this is the reality.

3. "I don't know if it's a memory or a memory of a memory I'm left with." Duka said to Benjamin when he was looking for the prisoner. It's also my favorite sentence, although some of it is like a tongue twister. When a person recalls a warm past, the memory fades with time, and slowly you will find that you don’t remember many details, you start to question yourself, the warm feeling is still there, and the pictures you see are still there. It's just like a dream, the details are blurred, and only the one you care about the most is fixed, and that kind of care is often lost.

Finally, let me say a sigh, the protagonists of good films are not beautiful, and the women in foreign films are especially uglier than the women in Chinese films. . . I am speechless!
