The second milk has returned to Beijing. I reviewed it alone in a sunny and warm afternoon in the spring, but I was deeply attracted by it.
The first thing that attracted me was the invincible long-lens close-up that is often used in the film. After the extreme blurring of the background by the telephoto, the close-up of the character fills the entire screen. There is a sense of stagnation in time. This seems to be the usual technique of psychological exploration films, but with the classical lighting technique, the whole picture looks elegant and warm. This not only controls the rhythm of the film very well, but also hides the huge and complex theme of the film behind the quiet picture sense.
Second, there is the story. The first half of the film is very slow-paced, using the gradual progression of a homicide investigation to introduce us to the development of the love between the protagonist and his immediate female boss. Two montages of linear time and flashback are performed simultaneously. When people are confused, the film enters the real narrative and climax from the moment the murderer is caught. The murderer was caught, the love progressed, the murderer was released, the revolutionary friendship between the two was cultivated, and the friend's death came to an abrupt end. Then finally throw a big twist of her husband's revenge to push the mood to the highest point.
However, after reading it, I felt a kind of indigestion feeling. The reasons are probably as follows.
First, there are too many topics to discuss. Justice, national politics, love, friendship, violence, time, and human nature. All have to be dipped in circles. Make it too big.
Second, the narrative is less clear. Perhaps this is acceptable as a film with a small narrative structure. But for this film, the narrative structure is really unclear. On the one hand, it is a traditional suspenseful story structure, and on the other hand, it has the characteristics of a non-traditional narrative film. All in all, people are in a fog. The murderer of the single rape and murder case can easily be misunderstood by the flashback in the final protagonist's drive.
Keep it simple. It's just that the story isn't clear. But maybe that's the Argentine style. A country with a turbulent, politically violent government, turbulent, but enduring grace and passion. We do not pay attention to logic, but are more willing to explore the philosophy and art of human beings and even life.
So, I decided to watch this enigmatic film two more times, trying to figure out its inner logic. Learn how to deal with other people's images.
