As a 20-year-old who is still a diehard Disney fan, it is natural to be interested in this fantasy movie. What's more, the propaganda efforts were not small at that time, and there were so-called various tributes to the gods. However, for various reasons, I didn't watch it at the time, and because of this, I have always had my own fictional favorable impression of this movie.
It's a pity, when I finally watch the movie now, I know that I was wrong.
At the beginning of the movie, it was made with a hand-made texture - the Disney castle of the paper model, the name of the cast of the paper, and the dancing group photo of the evil witch for a moment (although the two paper villains cannot appear in that kind of image in real circumstances) , as well as the retro music, make me feel that this prequel work is indeed a work of conscience, so I forgive the lengthy opening song. Of course, the lengthy clips unrelated to the theme are a major feature of this work.
Since the first one is similar to the setting of "Alice in Wonderland", it is to tell a dream story, so soon the tornado came, and the fantasy adventure began. But this film obviously wants to dig more into human nature. At the beginning of the movie (black and white part), it talks about how the protagonist of the magician is a liar and so on. The original "Wizard of Oz" wanted to say that Dorothy's adventure was a real thing, and the movie seemed to be talking about a dream, so the characters in the adventure also took care of it in reality. This is very obvious in the first part - but how many people can notice that the monkey made by the computer and the real assistant are taking care of it? Perhaps here this work also wants to pay tribute to the first one, but the shaping of the protagonist has already taken a lot of time, and adding a few characters that have not been thought of later really makes the real world part take too much time.
In the country of Oz, there are more slots, which are listed as follows:
1. Avatar-like scene description. Apparently, Avatar's descriptions of exotic flowers and plants made Disney, the imaginary kingdom, feel that it would be at a loss for not adding such elements to the film. "Alice in Wonderland" is like this, this is the same. But "Love" didn't have the time to draw close-ups of these scenes, and the scenes of "A" will be used in future plots. "Love" is a restoration of the original work. This work spends so much time showing what I created. Plants, and never use them again, it feels like it’s really about showing imagination for the sake of showing imagination.
2. In addition to being verbose, showing for the sake of showing is indeed a major slot of this work. In addition to the close-up of the scenery mentioned in the first point, this is Disney! It's like a 3D movie in an amusement park 20 years ago, because of 3D, there must be something suddenly rushing towards the audience. When the biting plants of the black forest, the flying monkey, and the last witch of the East (the one who failed to fight with Glinda) flew up, this kind of boring picture suddenly rushing to the screen makes people feel that the production team has never been in contact with 3D. Like movies, lest the audience experience a "3D" feeling in this way. In addition, the first one is a musical, so I often sing. And this work is not a musical, and when they got to the castle where Glinda was, when the dwarfs appeared, Glinda said "they love to sing", and they really sang. The whole play is this part of the song. This kind of plot for singing's sake (although there is no plot connotation) really made me think that I was watching an Indian movie when I went out to play.
3. Unsatisfactory western witch setting. Before the blackening, a little plump is still very cute - but this modern girl's appearance is really inconsistent! What's up with the leather pants! It's okay to be fat before the blackening, but after the blackening, there is no sense of being so fat! In contrast, the Western witches in Disney's "Double Drama" "Fairy Tale Town" are really much better, let's not talk about temperament, at least they are thin! The young fat witch is really not a coincidence at all.
4. Completely illogical plot. Why did the witch of the west (before blackening) travel so far just to meet the protagonist? Why as a witch can create a fire but not even a monkey can run away? Why did Filin decide to go to the porcelain country after seeing the fork in the road? Usually when there is a magic setting in a movie, there will be a super powerful wizard, but this show breaks the mold. Western witches can't drive away monkeys, Eastern witches can only create thick fog! Really weak magic. In addition to weak magic, the two also have one thing in common, that is, undressing - Twilight City can pull out a "reason" such as "the clothes temperature is too high because the werewolf's blood is hot". There is no good reason! This is a video for children! What is Disney's intention to release such a film that is not suitable for children! (I won't say the ambiguous lines like "his body is pressing me") Technology vs magic itself is a bit of a disappointment, and Glinda is adding fuel to the fire. It's not so much a witch, it's a political bubble Home, full of big words like "people" and "country" - we are watching the confrontation between technology and black magic, not listening to you running the train with your mouth full! But the worst plot is in the later stage, when the protagonist sneaks into the Emerald City and is discovered by the blackened Western witch. He found out that you caught him on the spot! Why don't you catch it! What if you just blow up a hot air balloon full of gold coins (why do you want to be full of gold coins? Sink it?)? And what happened to the flames that were extinguished one by one in the square? ? ?
In general, although the idea of making a prequel is good, and the tribute elements are fine, but the plot setting is very inadequate in this aspect, which makes the whole movie not worth watching.
