It's a couple who survived the Titanic of love and walked down to the day-to-day life of their married life, to the trivialities of the real world.
Kate Winslet's original curly red hair, a symbol of stupidity and madness, has been faded by the years into a restrained light blond, the length of the family woman, and it is meticulously combed. The gorgeous face that Jack painted back then was no longer able to arouse people's love and pity, but more edges and corners that made people respect and alienate. The increasingly rigid body made her look like a woman with a firm and contradictory heart.
Leonardo DiCaprio's face is no longer young, no longer handsome, no longer attractive to girls at first sight, but gradually more folds of life, like the back of his suit. Occasionally I can see Jack's shadow when I laugh.
It was such an increasingly vulgar man who one day had an affair when he complained about his life. Of course, that woman couldn't have been as youthful and bright as Scarlett Johansson, an office typist with a plump breast and an accent. After the incident, she lay naked on the bed and half-covered, looking like a figure in the work of a court painter in the 18th century, a woman who googled the word "cheesy". This is real life. Not surprisingly. Even an affair is no accident.
Of course, accidents are also part of real life. A woman gets a chance to go to Paris - the place he wants to go most, a promise he once made to her (but dear, how can a man's promise be taken seriously).
She persuaded him. They were about to travel across the ocean to Paris.
If, I mean if, they did get on the ship, did they get on the Titanic again?
Jack and Rose, or whatever they were called, were the same, traveled from Europe on the Titanic to America, and now they're on their way back to Europe. However, now Jack is no longer as passionate as he was when he jumped on the boat at the last minute. He knows that the life in front of him is empty and hopeless, but he is afraid of change and the unknown. The life in front of him is a warm and soft quagmire, which sinks him and makes him numb, but before he knows it, he has long been unable to get rid of it.
So when he learned that he had a chance to get promoted and his wife was pregnant again, he was reluctant to leave, and it seemed for good reason. And she, more firmly than him, wanted to get rid of her eyes and run towards a living life, a real life. So they hurt each other and torture each other.
The woman was washing dishes by the kitchen sink, the sun was shining on her face and her eyes were full of tears. The sun is not new every day, but appears in that window day after day, every day the same.
I have no doubt that when the iceberg hits the hull again and they have to face death, a man will still give a woman a chance to live because he does love him. However, they failed to board the Titanic again, they just lived day in and day out in the white houses on the unrevolutionary "Revolutionary Road". He would die for her, but he didn't have the courage to change his life a little for her. This is also reality.
In 1997 "Titanic", I was young, and they were young, so everyone was crazy, romantic, and desperate for love. 11 years later, we are all bound by reality, for work, for house, for family, for an unknowable future. I would like to see "Revolutionary Road" as a continuation of "Titanic". No one's love can stay on the Titanic forever, or it will always come down sooner or later. It's just, I'm thinking that some things cannot be discarded, such as passion and courage for the unknown life. Rose learned, so I guess she must have died with resentment: Jack, you taught me to live passionately, but you changed yourself... A
