"Block War"-a joking prophet's proverbs

This film, defined as a sci-fi comedy, was released in the UK on May 13, 2011. Not long after that, it was the London riots that shocked the world. The story described in the film is almost a prediction of the riot.

Several black children from poor communities (only one white) robbed a white nurse who had just graduated, and then killed an alien creature. They left the monster’s body in the topmost marijuana plantation of the block apartment. Indoors, as a result, more gorilla-like monsters with black hair, no eyes, and fluorescent teeth were attracted, and the story unfolded. In the eyes of the British, black people often mean poverty, violence, drugs, barbarism and crime. People in the film think so, "the Fucking Monster" is synonymous with these people. And "Block War" uses this kind of conclusion to make a little shallow derivation. This is true for blacks and whites. Is it possible that the root cause of the chaos in British society is simply the difference in skin color?

In the film, it turns out that the white nurse also lives in a slum community, and the one who grows marijuana for the black boss is also white (he is also in "Shaun the Zombie"), and the obscure biologist who uses drugs is also white. It can be seen that black people are not synonymous with crime, and white people are not fuel-efficient lamps. "If we know that you are in this neighborhood, we won't rob you." From their words, we find that these black people, who are at the bottom of society, still have simple moral concepts.
"Why didn't he come to protect you tonight?"
"He's in Ghana."
"Are you dating an African man?"
"No, he's helping children, he's a volunteer for the Red Cross"
"Oh, is he, why? Don’t help the children in Britain? Not western style, is it? The sun is not dark enough?”
This dialogue pointed to the crux of the problem. The contradiction between white people is the contradiction of social class, a class that controls most of the resources of the society, and is laissez-faire and indifferent to another disadvantaged class. (This is somewhat similar to the French "violent neighbourhood").

"They can't wait. First, drugs and guns. Seeing that we didn't destroy them fast enough, the government released them." And those monsters that fell from the sky reminded me of the British police (maybe the director didn't mean it). The color of the monster uses two colors of British police uniforms, black and fluorescent green. And without long eyes, they chase people when they see them, just like the "species" of police officers. The vocabulary of being cumbersome and strong, violent and strong, simple-minded, and low-powered to describe monsters can be used on the police without changing a word.

At the end of the story, when the supporting actor died and was clean, the protagonist led all the monsters to the gas-filled room. Under the blessing of the Union Jack, all the monsters were smoothly solved. The technique was so clean that the sequel could not be filmed at all. For any reason. The symbolism is also quite strong. As you see it, all alien monsters, Godzillas, zombies, and viruses are all paper tigers under the blessing of the national flag. A black gangster saved that class, and his name turned out to be "Moses."

It is difficult to define whether the original intention of the director is schadenfreude or a serious and profound prophecy. There is no consistent British humor, and even some actors’ accents turned out to be American English pronunciation. When people under the same social structure are divided into different classes by economic, educational and other factors, contradictions will inevitably arise. Moreover, if the flow of people between classes is almost stagnant, the contradictions are irreconcilable. We try to find the "Moses" of each class. They personally possess strong personality charms, and they will have various extraordinary ways to deal with things. They are both good and evil and hateful. However, in today's society, are they allowed to develop into "Moses" under the current system? In the film, Moses was arrested for the first time. If he hadn't sacrificed his life to save him, he would have died long ago.

No society is perfect, so whether there will be social turmoil does not constitute a standard for judging good or bad; however, how a society repairs and improves itself after turbulence can reflect this society to a large extent. The degree of health and civilization. While we are yelling at each other "bad, poor", please think about it first, is there a monster behind you waiting for an opportunity to fly over?

Regardless of the riot or not, British kids have never been cute.

Atypical British film with a touch of British humour. "Oh yeah, why doesn't he help the British kids? Isn't it exotic enough?" "Why do you keep catching the wrong people"
