A hundred meters is farther than a lifetime

The snow-covered Mount Everest is so sinister yet so beautiful. There is a group of people who risk their lives and endure untold hardships to come to it. Because it's there!
Not everyone who is interested in Mount Everest will act, and not everyone who takes action can make their dreams come true. Maybe, the last 100 meters is farther than the first.
Doug, a postman, works two jobs, trying a third time. When I was very close to the top of the mountain, I was not physically strong, but I chose to risk my life to move forward. He knew that if he couldn't arrive this time, the chances of him arriving next time would be even slimmer. Finally, with the help of Rob, he reached the summit as he wished, but he died on the top of the mountain, which indirectly caused the death of Rob and another rescuer.
Lou, a lawyer. When he was 100 meters away from the peak, he took the initiative to retreat and go down the mountain. He knew that if he climbed further, he would have no chance to descend. The closest he was to his dream was 100 meters, but it was so far away that he would never have the chance to realize it again in this life.
Doug chose to move forward and traded his life for a hundred meters. Lou chose to turn back and traded 100 meters for the rest of his life. One to die, one to live. This hundred meters is so far away, farther than a lifetime.
If it were you, what would you do? Like Doug, take the expectations of the children and tell them with actions that an ordinary person can climb the highest peak in the world and pursue some different dreams? Or like Lou, who can afford to let go, is it more important to keep your life than to realize your dreams?
