Disgusting justice

It's not too much to say that it is the middle-aged version of "kick ass". It's just that the depression of middle-aged people in life is heavier than the resistance of young people to life. If "kick ass" is cheap, then "super" is evil. There is no "kick ass" lila-style upgrade equipment, cool partner, on the contrary, crappy clothing, neurotic partner. Aren't these all the sorrows of middle-aged people? Even the courage to become a superhero comes from that boring and stupid TV show. In the end, I will return to a lonely and tasteless life. Everything is so sad.
Black comedy has always been hovering on the edge of morality, and this film is no exception, everything seems so excessive. Overly ugly uniforms, overly stupid TV shows, overly selfish justice, overly hysterical partners, overly stupid behavior, overly easy-to-solve villains, overly ruthless wives, overly fickle passers-by, overly ridiculous miracles, overly Violent revenge. Until the end of the film, I still couldn't feel happy for the actor's "righteous" behavior. On the contrary, I felt very disgusted. This is where the film succeeded.
The director's handling of this film is quite interesting. It understates some excessive behaviors, and brings those irrelevant divine instructions, justice, and vengeance to the center of the stage, adding a sense of irony. In addition, the role modeling is also very careful. A middle-aged crisis, boring, stupid, weak, and violent superhero, and a naive, nerdy, crazy, neurotic, and vindictive righteous partner, co-act in a farce of gangsters. Finally, he gave the film a rather ironic name-super.
Conclusion: Sometimes a good movie does not make people feel comfortable to watch or very touching, but it is indeed a rare good movie.

  • Libby: I'm Libby, by the way. And don't go making some joke about "Libby's on the label", 'cuz it just pisses me off. What's your name.

    Frank D'Arbo: Frank.

Libby: [childishly forced laugh] Oh, I hope you'll be *frank* with me. I hope you'll continue to be frank in all of our future discussions.

  • Libby: Frank, what! I didn't know I wasn't supposed to kill him. I mean, I'm just learning, you have to teach me these things.
