Young Kyle (Channing Tatum) is working in Congressional Security after being discharged from the frontline in Afghanistan. His ultimate dream is to protect US President Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Kyle and his divorced wife have a daughter Emily (Joey King) who is in elementary school. She has become a political junkie because of her father's military service experience, and she is especially fond of President Sawyer and the White House. In order to make her daughter happy, Kyle promises to take her on a day trip inside the White House, by the way to apply for a job in the Secret Service led by Carlo (Maggie Gyllenhaal) that day. But on the same day, a group of unidentified militants sneaked into the White House in disguise and searched for President Sawyer. Can Kyle, who is visiting with his daughter, not be afraid to rescue the president? Can Kyle protect his daughter at the same time? And is there a dirty secret behind this unmotivated violence?

White House Down quotes

  • Donnie the Guide: Now, not too many people realize this, but the White House is actually three buildings: there's the East Wing, where you guys came in, there's the West Wing, which houses the Oval and Executive Offices of the president, and we're about to enter the residence, which is the big, famous building in the middle that got blown up in "Independence Day".

    Midwestern Woman: What's in there?

Donnie the Guide: Well, that's the president's home theater. Membership has its privileges.

  • Donnie the Guide: Oil painting by Tom Freeman to commemorate the burning of the White House by the British in 1814.

Cale: Wait, the White House burned down?

Donnie the Guide: Yeah, yeah, in the War of 1812. Practically had to be rebuilt from the ground up. When I look at this painting, I get very emotional.
