After watching "Thank You for Smoking", this is a good movie. I especially liked the conversation Nick had with his son Joey about "negotiations" and "debates." Perhaps this is a warning to me that we should all be debating more than negotiating. Nick is a lobbyist, his job is just to speak. When Joey questioned what he had learned before to do this? I think this is our current doubt, and his answer should be our answer: to comprehend for ourselves. Of course, not everyone has this ability.
"I proved that you're wrong and if you're wrong. I'm right."
"I suppose we all got to pay the mortgage."
Nick was a successful lobbyist, I suppose, and more importantly, he was a successful dad.
Do what you think you should do, go where you think you should go, and sing what you think you should sing. A sad song, a guitar, this is the only thing I understand.
Time to find a good dad for my son.
