"Thank You For Smoking" I prefer to think that this is an inspirational film

I prefer to think of "Thank You for Smoking" as an inspirational film. It is not a vulgar sketch, nor is it a so-called fudge, it is a film that knows how to use its own language art to develop its own talent. I fell in love with this film when I discovered that it was a natural way to show how to beat fate when the protagonist was at a low ebb.

First of all, it passes by with a lovely opening sequence, smoking is just a medium, and this film does not promote smoking as a good thing, which is the director's brilliant point. At the same time, he emphasized the trust between father and son, and naturally showed the flaws of human nature. Yes, we are all adults, and the temptation of sex is indeed like this, don't you think?

What I appreciate is that it shows how frustrating bad luck can be, and how one should learn to survive in the workplace. When those guys put nicotine patches on his body, my emotions got nervous. When his friends scolded him, I also felt ashamed.

But life is a joke, testing people's endurance and self-confidence from time to time. This film made me watch how a real ordinary person faced bad luck and survived it very well.

Sooner or later the support of his son or the support of others will come because he has been teaching those around him to live confidently and see the world clearly.

Of course, of course, some people will say that he is not a leader material, he can only be a lobbyist forever, and he lacks his own real opinions.

However, convincing others that this is his job. It's enough to do his job well, if that's where his talent lies.

When Napoleon's is not necessarily his happiness, don't you think?

I really think this is a good inspirational film. Embarrassment will always happen. Fear of embarrassment is not the answer. Only by facing it positively and admitting your mistakes can you continue better.

Three and a half. Everyone has a talent.

It's funny. It talks about the ideological projects of multinational corporations and their games with the media and politicians in a dark and dark way, and also makes fun of classic movies. Of course, the ending is always Hollywood-style disgusting people. Another interesting thing is that there is no smoking scene in the whole film except for the mirror image of the secondary reference.

Thank You for Smoking quotes

  • Nick Naylor: [Narrating] Few people on this planet know what it is to be truly despised. Can you blame them? I earn a living fronting an organizing that kills one thousand two hundred human beings a day; twelve hundred people. We're talking two jumbo jet plane loads of men, women, and children. I mean there's Attila, Genghis, and me, Nick Naylor the face of cigarettes, the colonel sanders of nicotine. This is where I work, the Academy of Tobacco Studies. It was established by seven gentlemen you may recognize from C-Span. These guys realized quick if they were gonna claim cigarettes were not addictive they better have proof. This is the man they rely on, Erhardt Von Grupten Mundt. They found him in Germany. I won't go into the details. He's been testing the link between nicotine and lung cancer for thirty years, and hasn't found any conclusive results. The man's a genius, he could disprove gravity. Then we got our sharks. We draft them out of Ivy League law schools and give them timeshares and sports cars. It's just like a John Grisham novel. Well you know without all the espionage. Most importantly we got spin control. That's where I come in. I get paid to talk. I don't have an MD or law degree. I have a baccalaureate in kicking ass and taking names. You know that guy who can pick up any girl, I'm him on crack.

  • Polly Bailey: [in a restaurant, referring to Heather] You didn't tell her about us, did you?

Nick Naylor: Who? Heather? No!... I mean, maybe in passing.

    Polly Bailey: In passing.

Bobby Jay Bliss: Oh God, he fucked her. I tried to warn you...

Polly Bailey: Hey, he didn't fuck her. You didn't fuck her, did you?

    [Nick doesn't answer]

    Polly Bailey: When?

    Bobby Jay Bliss: In passing.
