Understanding of several issues in the film

I think the reason why Paul wanted to fire Stephen was not a loyalty issue, but that Stephen didn't tell Paul first after knowing the other party's strategy, which made Paul embarrassed. And Stephen didn't argue when he confronted Paul, because he knew he wasn't fired for loyalty, which was one of the reasons for Stephen's revenge.
Paul should also have the handle in Morris's hands, so he accepted Morris's deal. In the end, it seemed normal to go to the funeral of the "old friend"'s daughter, and casually talked about asking Stephen what the handle of Morris was that he had caught. In fact, he was still unwilling.

The story is just a part of the whole event. Outside of the movie, the background of the story already exists, and there are reasons for many seemingly abrupt and unreasonable developments.
No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes and has their own character. In politics, every choice is a game.

The production is very delicate and the actors are also very good, but there are problems with the script, the layout is small, there are many stereotypes, and there is a schizophrenia between realism and drama.

The Ides of March quotes

  • Tom Duffy: Do yourself a favor. Get out, now. While you still can. Go into entertainment or business, go open a fucking restaurant in Costa Rica. Anything. Do something that's gonna make you happy, okay? Cause you stay in this business long enough, you're going to get jaded and cynical.

    Stephen Meyers: Like you?

Tom Duffy: Yeah, just like me!

  • Stephen Meyers: If you want to be president, you can start a war, you can lie, you can cheat, you can bankrupt the country, but you can't fuck the interns. They'll get you for that.
