Cube is one of the most frightening movies when I was a child, mainly because some people pretended to say that it was very scary, and they hoarded it for a long time until they dared to watch it in college.
As a suspense thriller movie in a confined space, in my opinion, the originator is Buñuel's "Destroy the Angel" in 1962, and the follow-up of the same type include "Buried Alive" and "Sniper Phone Booth". Horror Cruise" and "The Fantasy Drifting of Pi". Because of the limited background of the film, the content of the story is usually a beastly expression that amplifies the loss and despair of human beings in a narrow space. Unlike "Buried Alive" and "Sniper Phone Booth", Cube is a group play. It has a small group like society, so it is like the disaster movie "Snowpiercer" or the movie people commented on Chen Kaige, where every character in Individuals represent a group or a class, and only have a deeper and more obscure political implication.
I don't want to dig so deep, Cube seems to me like a song for the negative. Everyone in the movie is the creator and participant of a huge tragedy, and the tragedy that is staged together is called life. The answer given to us at the end of the movie is unexpected, but it is like an Indian chief who was disappointed with reality and did not dare to face it in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Although he finally walked out, he couldn't see any hope at all. Being engulfed in the strong light was as helpless as being annihilated in the darkness.
Although it is not the first to put a group of people together and then carry out human irony, the sophisticated creativity of the design agency is admirable, but in the end, the cop stabbed two people to death to highlight the theme and was very deliberate.
