No gossip, let's get down to business. This is a movie based on a game. I haven't played the "Silent Hill" series of games, but I know it's famous and has countless fans. However, I have played the same type of game "Resident Evil 2". With this experience, I found that the use of lenses, scenery, lighting and the texture of the picture are very similar to the game. The mother line, obtaining items with information, and advancing the plot development according to the clues provided, this is the mission mode of the game at all. As a result, watching a movie turned into watching how the director played the game. How well you play depends on the evaluation of game fans.
The message conveyed at the beginning of the film is that the town was abandoned due to a fire in an underground coal mine. This reminds me of Liu Cixin's science fiction novel "Earth Fire". The description of the purgatory on earth caused by ground fire can be described as shocking. However, after acting, this incident has become insignificant. The real inside story is the blood and tears of a girl called a witch. The mother's search for her daughter is actually guided by her to help her get revenge. The girl's tragedy is very similar to "Darkness", but the realm is completely different. In "Damn", after encountering misunderstanding and unfair treatment, the girl chooses to commit suicide, and when she sees disaster again, she still has to try desperately to stop it. And the girl in this film is too resentful, which makes the whole film full of tyranny and revenge, and the final killing scene is very bloody, which also pushes the violence of the film to a climax.
The music is good, basically the culmination of game music. The music of the "Silent Hill" series of games has always been well received, especially 2, which is called a masterpiece. It's really good, and it fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the film, presumably in the game too.
One thing I don't understand is why people hate and fear a girl so much, call her a witch, and burn her to death. Just because she doesn't have a father? Or is the director trying to tell us that she is actually Jesus? After reading some comments, I know that the background of the original game is much more complicated and the explanation is much more adequate. After understanding the relevant information of the game, many problems are easily solved. Combined with the film's high imitation of the game in terms of picture, music, etc., it can be seen that the director made this film to please game fans, so it seems that it is irrelevant that many places are unclear or mentioned in one stroke. But for those who haven't played the game, it's like falling into a fog.
