Murphy is special to me. Childhood idol Really, Robocop was not originally positioned as a super-powered police officer or some messy fighting machine. In essence, it is Comrade Murphy's sense of justice and dedication. There doesn't seem to be so much human torture in the original book. There are quite a few in the movie, but not much in-depth. I think this is rather good. What Murphy would have stood out for was his own dedication to the fear of becoming a robot. The previous Robocop was a mess, but the protagonist was more like a SWAT judge.
