"Chicago" pays tribute to this era of traffic first

After Russell dominated for two consecutive years, a musical film called "Chicago" broke the monopoly of white elite men and dominated the 75th Oscar film. And that year's Oscar for Best Supporting Actress was also the best affirmation for Renee Zellweger, who played Roxie. Of course, another heroine in the movie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, also performed brilliantly. But I personally feel that Zellweger expressed that kind of scheming bitch more deeply into the hearts of the people.

1. Never underestimate a person's desire to be popular.

Although it is a movie released in 2002, it can still find its commonality when applied to today's Chinese society. A woman who wants to become famous, through unscrupulous exposure and hype, constantly gets attention and sympathy. But at the moment when she was most complacent, it was also the moment when she lost her hot spot. This can't help but remind people of Ava's unscrupulousness in the 1951 Oscar's best film "The Comet Beauty". However, compared to "Comet Beauty", it is a more obscure expression. "Chicago"'s criticism of such a conspiratorial woman is more straightforward and spicy.

For influencers, traffic is everything. So I'm pretty sure that Roxie in "Chicago", if she were living in the present, must be a formidable internet celebrity. She and "super lawyer" Billy, a perfect match. In one fell swoop, the eyes of the entire Chicago were firmly attracted to the two of them. Including fabricated life experiences, reasonable criminal motives, faithful husbands, sudden pregnancy, and so on. These highly topical details and truths have been carefully packaged and discovered one after another. After experiencing the temptation of Vanity Fair, Roxie is even more unscrupulous, trying to maintain her popularity, but there will always be more novel and more malleable stories. Therefore, those who are chasing hot spots and rubbing hot spots are always so anxious and impetuous.

2. The social significance behind the best films.

Like many musicals, "Chicago" begins with a roar and ends with enthusiasm. Compared with the more relaxed and positive musicals such as "An American in Paris", "West Side Story", "My Fair Lady" and "The Sound of Music", "Chicago" is full of satire and dark humor. It took over the mantle of "American Beauty". You must know that after "American Beauty", Hollywood was the best for two consecutive years, which made blood for the American society at that time. But social problems can't be solved by fighting chickens and inspiring people alone. So satirize social problems to force social adjustment. It is the duty and responsibility of filmmakers.

If "American Beauty" taught us the hardships of white men, then "Chicago" taught us the hardships of an ambitious and expressive woman. The game in Vanity Fair is not something that everyone can afford. The people will hold you up to the sky, and they will abandon you like dung. After all, flowers never bloom. All these seem to remind those "celebrities" who rely on hype and fame. Don't always fantasize, you can rely on lies and winning the sympathy of the people to keep the heat alive.

Finally, I have to say that, aside from the plot, "Chicago" is still a rare song and dance masterpiece. Recommended for viewers and friends who like musicals, you can go and watch it.
