"Your Name" is no longer a story of "no love".

You may have never seen Makoto Shinkai's other works before. You don't know his early "Five Centimeters Per Second" and his mid-term "The Garden of Words", so After watching this "Your Name", you think it is a good commercial film. But those who know Makoto Shinkai know that there is a label on his head: love but not.

Because all his stories are tragic, and the endings are suffocating and unforgettable. However, in "Your Name", Makoto Shinkai changed his routine, and at the end conveyed a power of firm love and faith. So if you want to see the typical Shinkai-style love but not the story, I'm afraid you will be disappointed. If you just want to watch a good movie, then it will be a good choice, it will give you a sour but warm movie viewing experience this winter.

The following is a brief analysis of the new works of the "atypical Shinkai Makoto style".

1. Based on a pure love perspective. It does count as a romance in terms of content, and it's all about the most extreme and difficult issue in a relationship - distance. This is a love story that transcends reality and spans time and space. Such love is often romantic but sour, just like the broken blue star trails in the red clouds in the film. But this kind of love is the ultimate beauty, whether in terms of artistic form or emotional experience, this kind of beauty is precious and rare. So beautiful that I forgot to write your name in the palm of your hand, leaving only the sentence "I like you"; so beautiful that I can barely see your outline in the halo of the afterglow, but I can't touch it. So romantic love is really like a huge gamble. Unfortunately, we are all romantic gamblers.

2. What are we looking for? This concept has been repeatedly raised since the second half of the film, so I think this is what Makoto Shinkai wants to tell the audience through "Your Name", its practical significance. Modern life is always orderly and unsatisfactory, one is a busy Tokyo teenager, the other is a country girl who longs for the city, I believe that everyone's life is as imperfect as they are, so the two people who swap bodies make The "inner" of oneself is refreshed, to change the status quo of the other party, and to rekindle the elements of freshness and fun. Therefore, the motive force for changing your life may be to find another self and use your imagination to achieve a rich and different life. So what we may have been looking for is another self existing in the body, or a new life experience. (Personal opinion)

3. From passing by to meeting. Fortunately, we did not miss it again in the end. Fortunately, we turned back to each other with a sense of mission and a little bit of courage like a marriage in our previous life. In the vast sea of people, why not stop in a hurry to complete a relationship from stranger to understanding. If I accidentally forget you or don't know you at all, why not let me know you again, starting with knowing your name. Even if there is no sense of mission that seems like a long-awaited reunion, and there is no fate that cannot be unraveled, please
give yourself a little courage to meet a lovely person and ask his (her) name.

Many fans of Makoto Shinkai joked that he almost killed the director by mistake in the last ten minutes, thinking that it was the ending of abusive hearts and tears. Finally is a happy ending. In the director's words, the explanation is that today's Japanese society no longer needs insinuations of tragic dramas to inspire, but to use a hopeful and positive way to stimulate the emotions of the people. Of course, as a commercial film needs.
Finally, I want to say that you can still see Makoto Shinkai's unique literary atmosphere and romantic feelings in this film, but it is no longer a "love but not" story.
