Gandhi: an ordinary but extraordinary man

1. I have always admired Gandhi, a great historical figure.

For his non-violence and non-cooperation in leading the national independence movement, although it seems to me more like a manifestation of idealism, it contains Gandhi's personal concept of peace and equality of all living beings in the world. It can be said that in this respect, I very much agree with Gandhi. I think the pursuit of peace is something that people all over the world have spent their entire lives pursuing.

As for Gandhi, although he died under the guns of extremists in the end, in terms of his influence on the entire historical development of India, he will always live in the hearts of the people of the world. Just as 41 years after his death, he is still named the man of the twentieth century by Time magazine. Came from India, returned to India, but in the end it stayed in the hearts of people all over the world.

2. Gandhi's educational philosophy

I have two opinions on this.

First of all, Gandhi was right in advocating that young people should be fully developed physically, mentally and spiritually.

But on the other hand, Gandhi's thought is different from Chairman Mao's thought of the all-round development of morality, intelligence, body, beauty and labor. Gandhi advocated a world where cultural education is weakened, and the world is unified, and men farm and women weave. But this kind of concept can be said to be contrary to the world in this era when the brain economy is dominated. So thinking also needs to "evolve".

I think this is also an important revelation for us.

3. Evaluation of Gandhi

Nehru once described him as "Gandhi is the living light of truth and shines forever". It can be seen that Gandhi's status and long-lasting influence in the hearts of the Indian people. This makes me think that this is what great people have in common.

Just like our country's Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou, Yuan Longping, Dr. Li Yuanliang, etc., a person can really affect an era.

Gandhi's strong spiritual strength and firm principles of doing things are very worthy of our study, whether in study life or in future social life. He advocated the non-violent non-cooperation movement, and he would stop the movement as soon as there was a hint of violence on the rise. Although this will bring him a great backlash in the end, he never backs down.

Whether it is non-violence, advocating Indian independence, or pursuing equality of people of different colors, he never backs down. He really deserves our admiration.

In general, this is Gandhi, an ordinary and extraordinary man.

The British are the main culprit in causing the split between India and Pakistan, and they have the guts to tell the truth. It is admirable that the British are shameless. But the 10,000 people show is very exciting, Zhang Yimou, you are willing to give up.

Gandhi quotes

  • Lord Irwin, Viceroy: Mr. Gandhi will find that it takes a great deal more than a pinch of salt to bring down the British Empire.

  • Edward R. Murrow: [at Gandhi's funeral] The object of this massive tribute died as he had always lived - a private man without wealth, without property, without official title or office. Mahatma Gandhi was not a commander of great armies nor ruler of vast lands. He could boast no scientific achievements or artistic gift. Yet men, governments and dignitaries from all over the world have joined hands today to pay homage to this little brown man in the loincloth who led his country to freedom. Pope Pius, the Archbishop of Canterbury, President Truman, Chiang Kai-shek, The Foreign Minister of Russia, the President of France... are among the millions here and abroad who have lamented his passing. In the words of General George C. Marshall, the American Secretary of State, "Mahatma Gandhi had become the spokesman for the conscience of mankind, a man who made humility and simple truth more powerful than empires." And Albert Einstein added, "Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth."
