This is an Indian film about lost children growing up looking for relatives, based on real events. A very ordinary plot. A 5-year-old Indian boy named Saru separated from his brother when he was traveling with his brother. He mistakenly got on a train, which took him to another city 1,200 kilometers away. . He was adopted by a kind-hearted Australian couple after experiencing homelessness, being almost abducted by human traffickers, and being taken into custody. Twenty-five years later, through his own memory and constant efforts, he finally returned to his hometown in India to find his mother and sister, while his brother was killed by a train the day he got lost.
With such an ordinary plot, the 118-minute movie does not feel long and boring. There are no known actors other than Nicole Kidman, who plays the Australian mum. But no matter the actor who plays the adult Saru or the young Saru, the interpretation of the inner drama is accurate. Their eyes reflected the boy's fear when he was lost, the unease when he was adopted, the struggle to find his family and the fear of disappointment from his adoptive mother, the despair when he couldn't find it, and the joy when he finally met... These are the ups and downs of life. The seemingly bland narrative unfolds in front of the audience one by one.
The reason why the movie is named Lion is because Saru misremembered his own name, his Indian name means Lion.
When Saru confessed his heart to the adoptive mother, the adoptive mother told him that she could have children but adopted 2 children because she and her husband believed that the world's population was already large, and there was no need to have children by themselves to increase the population and adopt a third world country children can help them and give them a better life. But why I chose an Indian child is related to an experience she had when she was 12 years old, but I didn't understand it. However, it is not necessary to understand everything, and there is no need to be so serious.
Saru's mother didn't move for 25 years after he went missing, and she waited with love; Saru firmly believed that her mother never gave up on him, and he searched for him with love. Family love is always our warmest belonging.
