Not all parents are strong

American poet Robert Frost once said: Poetry is what is lost in translation.

But in some cases, what is lost becomes poetry.

For example, What's Eating Gilbert Grape Literal translation: Who ate Gilbert Grape, with translation: What ate Gilbert Grape, or, What is Gilbert Grape bothering about.

It always feels less poetic and romantic than "Different Sky".

Thirty-year-old young boy - he is really too young in the movie, although he is thirty years old, he deserves "poetic", "romantic", and "beautiful".

I went to see Xiao Lizi, but in the end, all eyes fell on Gilbert Grape, who was 30-year-old Depp, and later swept the world Pirates of the Caribbean. We seem to have known Depp from a geek. We turned to look at Depp in the 1990s. After taking off his geek coat, he looked like a melancholy literary youth, as if he had re-acquainted with a beautiful man.

What devoured you? what is troubling you?

You are just, yearning for a different sky.

The girl drove Betsy in the camper van. She was a distant place, and she carried the breath of a distant place. The sky she saw here was beautiful, but Gilbert had never been in the mood to appreciate the beautiful scenery of this sky. Everyone knew he was trapped and he was the only one who couldn't go. Some people used him to be trapped and chose him to send loneliness, which he once thought was love; some people used him to be trapped to exploit his labor value, and he could only stay in place in the inherent mode. He couldn't leave the house, the house where he had lost his father, his younger brother, who was said to be dying at any moment, with some mental retardation, and his sick, fat mother who couldn't leave her seat.

In fact, not only him, but the Gilbert family was trapped.

What caused Gilbert's father to commit suicide, in the end, we don't know. Must this be the reason why the mother kept eating and became obese?

One of my favorite comments: Not all parents are strong.

Wu Zhihong once used a concept in his book - an orchid-like mother, as a metaphor for those vulnerable parents. We can't blame such vulnerable parents, because they are human beings in the end, and they all have the fragility and helplessness of human beings. However, life will not stop because of a person's helplessness and vulnerability, so the only thing that can save oneself is to live as a dandelion or a weed. In this sense, Gilbert, who worked hard to make money to support the family, and the eldest sister who took care of all the housework and took care of the family, they were all weeds and dandelions. Because of their existence, this home, although crumbling, is still strong. In the film, Gilbert has been asking people to repair the house, because he can't leave, but he can't be buried here, so he can only keep patching the house that has been broken from the foundation.

Actually life is cruel for Gilbert's siblings, but the movie doesn't want to be cruel, it wants to be beautiful.

The fire at the end of the movie burns heartily. Although this represents a bit of cruelty, it is a relief. Maintained the mother's face, and also freed the family from being trapped in place. The younger sister transferred schools, the older sister found a job, and Gilbert took his younger brother to travel around the world with the camper van. They were about to see a different sky.

There is no accusation, no complaints, no hatred, some are just unavoidable pain and crying, and some are more mutual support, understanding and mutual support, not much to say but not sensational. In the movie era of the 90s, the past will never come back.
