Even Gates' mother was held at gunpoint without the slightest tension, and the kidnapping of the president of the United States was even more boring. This kind of film is simply torture for people who don't want to spend their time learning about American history. Although I love most of Cage's movies.
It may also be related to the jailbreak I just watched recently. I prefer movies with a strong atmosphere, such as "The Shawshank Redemption", which is my favorite because of the shock that Andy gave me when he escaped.
