Lovely tone

It's a movie almost sixty years ago, and it looks like a step back in time. The sci-fi plot and special effects in it are not worth mentioning today, and the description of aliens has been imitated and subverted in various ways... The only thing I like is the unique tone of the movie of that era.
When I first watched it, I couldn't adapt to this kind of accent. Such tone and lens must seem like a vulgar spoof today. But in that era, this was the most normal movie language...I really want to know how people felt when watching the film...
