Chaplin's first work I've seen is also his last silent film. The funny and humorous performance made me amazed at Chaplin's expressiveness, but this seemingly absurd comedy made me feel more and more sad. The homeless people represented by Charlie and the homeless people represented by homeless women have become the epitome of most people in that society. They are full of longing for the future and they are all working hard to live in department stores The night in the building was the closest they came to their dream life When Charlie's performance in a cafe after repeated job failures was finally recognized, but the tramp was arrested and the film ended with Charlie saying "Come on, don't give up, everything's going to be alright. will be all right? Will the world be kind and benevolent to those who live hard? But no matter what the result is, we should work hard to live. We have no right to give up.
