Humanity and Divinity in Conflict and Contrast

One was Marcela, a Roman, and the other was Ben-Hur, a Jew. Unexpectedly, the two children meet again, and their childhood friendship is vulnerable to the conflict between the huge power and the fate of the nation. Augustus and Yahweh, to whom do you pledge your allegiance? Conquest and autonomy, who is the way of heaven? Marcella banished Ben-Hur and imprisoned his relatives. The buddies turn their faces, the contest between good and evil, who will ups and downs?
Brilliant keep going.
The Jewish Jesus was also born in the Jewish province of Rome. The atoning love of Jesus is intertwined with Ben-Hur's vengeful hatred, and the contrast between divinity and humanity leads to the second clue of the film. In the end, love triumphs over hate, and the film ends with the forgiveness of Jesus on the cross giving Ben Hun peace of mind and the rebuilding of the family, giving the whole story a deeper meaning.
The film shows the Roman Forum, horse races, and sea battles. It is a rare blockbuster that explores the meaning of Roman politics and Christianity.

Years later, I will definitely still remember today's movie viewing experience. After the six-minute prelude, I slowly opened such a large-screen format and exquisite picture quality in the dark. A stern, such a great movie was presented. I believe William Wheeler and Lay Weng Nai will also be pleased; it is hard to imagine that such a grand scene was shot more than half a century ago without special effects.

The first three hours were all masterpieces. After watching the special effects of this one, you can understand that "2001: A Space Odyssey" is not a standout. The rhythm is too slow and sensational, and it's really a bit frustrating. I glanced at the 25-year edition and found that, especially the horse racing section, it was almost completely copied and dropped one star.

Ben-Hur quotes

  • Servant: [Presenting a gift] For the Tribune. With the compliments of Quintus Arrius. He awaits your pleasure.

    Messala: The consul here?

Servant: It is Quintus Arrius the Younger, tribune.

Messala: Thank him. Bring him to me.

Drusus: I didn't know the consul had a son.

Messala: I've heard of the young Arrius. He's a champion of the great circus. Why is he here presenting me with gifts?

Drusus: Perhaps he will race against you in the games.

Messala: [opens the box and takes out a dagger] Look.

    Drusus: It's magnificent.

Messala: And from a man I've never met!

Judah Ben-Hur: [enters] You're wrong, Messala.

  • Judah Ben-Hur: What has become of my mother and my sister?

Messala: It is not my duty to keep track of prisoners.

Judah Ben-Hur: Find them, Messala. Restore them to me and I will forget what I vowed with every stroke of that oar you chained me to.

Messala: I am not the governor of Judea. I can do nothing without Gratus' approval.

Judah Ben-Hur: Then get it! I will come back tomorrow. Don't disappoint me, Messala.

    [he leaves]

    Messala: What became of them?

Drusus: It's been almost five years. Do you suppose they're still alive?

Messala: Go to the citadel, Drusus. Find out.

    Drusus: And if they're dead?

    Messala: They're dead!
