Repel monsters but sympathize with the weak

"The Elephant Man Theme" A movie I decided to watch because of a song. Watching a David Lynch movie for the second time after "Blue Velvet", you deserve it. Treacherous, extreme, silent, deep. The story is very good and positive. A strange-looking person went from being ridiculed and played to being redeemed and respected. But is the story really like this? Will people really accept such a monster... Merrick was rescued from the circus, met Freddy, went to the hospital where someone cared for him, and was finally accepted by the world... All of this Everything is too unreal, like an illusory Eden, a dream Utopia. This is a world where kindness and hypocrisy coexist. When Merrick stood up in the theater with everyone's eyes on him, everyone was smiling and applauding. What a beautiful moment, but I felt extremely ironic. Those so-called people who come to care for Merrick, from nurses to queens, from princesses to actors, are really pure and kind, or are they exuding their own hypocritical sympathy to highlight their nobility in order to satisfy their distorted curiosity? Freddie, the doctor who first rescued Merrick, may have used him as a tool in the end to demonstrate his kindness as a healer. I remember the people at the station cornering Merrick into the corner of the toilet, forcing him to shout "I'm not an animal, I'm a human". Remember a church castle that Merrick made on the table by the window. It's ironic that the window Merrick used to look at the church became the glass through which people looked at him. In comparison, kindness is pitiful, and the only ones left are those poor people who secretly let Merrick go. At the end, Merrick took away the original six or seven pillows on the bed, lay on the bed with only one pillow like a normal person, and slept peacefully. Will he die? Probably, as he is famous under the castle, heralding the end of it all. Or maybe I really think too much, just take this movie as a positive example, I believe in the tolerance of people in this world. It's a matter of opinion, I just think that Merrick's heart is so pure and pure, and he looks so pitiful...
