After suffering a devastating attack from the Zerg, humanity has spent years cultivating a new generation of geniuses and training them into warriors to fend off another Zerg attack. The best and brightest young people on Earth are selected to join a battle school built on an orbiting space station, where they will compete against each other to become commanders of an international fleet. They undergo advanced and rigorous simulation training in a violent and competitive environment, each knowing that only one person can be selected to be the leader.
Ender Wiggin (played by Asa Butterfield) also showed outstanding talent among the outstanding students. His wit, empathy, and excellent tactical skills have made him a leader in his class, and laser training in a zero-gravity combat classroom has proven his tactical and physical prowess. Ender's special talent also arouses the jealousy of other new students. The commander of the combat school, Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford), isolates Ender from other children in order to hone his unique leadership skills.
At first, Ender was ostracized, but with an incredible understanding of human nature, he gradually became involved with his teammates, and soon advanced to the military academy on a distant planet, which was once used by the Zerg as a forward position for invading Earth. Under the rigorous training of the talented commander Mazer Rehan (Ben Kingsley) who defeated the Zerg many years ago, Ender's ability is quickly improved, leading his teammates in mock battles against the enemy military.
Both Graff and Rayhan were certain that another Zerg attack was imminent, believing that they had only a few weeks left to train Ender to lead an international fleet in the fight for Earth's survival. But as Ender prepares for the ultimate test, he begins to struggle, doubting the important task he is about to face. Is this the best way to get peace?
