the magic realism in this movie reminds me of FranzKafka's novel ,while the protagonist reminds me of Quasimodo in Hugo's novel. he has the ability to creat beauty,he can sense love and beauty,his outside maybe ugly but his inside is kind and innocent , he is human being, not some creature, however, people always judge others by their appearance, which is pathetic and silly, and people always destroy what they don't know or what they don't like ,which is cowardly and evil,so some how , he becomes some kind of mirror that can reflect the goodness and badness in humanity, we can see the true nature of people by how they treat him, it turns out that there are so few good people in this world ,those who we thought be weak or decent people in usual days, change into devil when they have power or selfish minds,maybe just like harvey dent in movie tdk said: we couldn't be decent men in an indecent world.
