"A Farewell" is light and meaningful

Compared with the light-hearted and meaningful thinking of "A Parting", "The Past" is slightly dull and trivial. The works of the Iranian director Asghar Farhadi
are all so original and present social reality. The shock brought by "A Separation" is more intuitive and profound - the nanny consults the old man before changing his pants to see if it conforms to the teachings, lying is considered to be heinous, and he would rather not pay huge amounts of money than deceive against his will... There is a huge disparity in the class and loyalty of beliefs. Struggling with human nature, directly hitting people's hearts. "The Past" seems to have a taste of "the past is already a legacy", but a divorce procedure, like a "butterfly effect" stirred up all kinds of pain and entanglement from adults to children, can "the past" become a "legacy" , seems to be still in between.

After watching "A Farewell", the most intuitive feeling is the cowardice of a man, not because he lost a fight to others, nor because he chose to lie in the face of prison. Instead, in the face of every difficult choice, he threw the problem to someone who was more powerless than him. The first two times were thrown to the daughter, and the last time was thrown to the miscarried female believer.

Separation should be translated as Stranger, in addition to what everyone sees between husband and wife, between genders, between reality and belief, as well as between employers, between classes, those separations.

Nader: He does not know me but i know that he is my father.

  • Nader: Don't you ever think why you wanna leave this country? 'Cause every time you face a trouble, you give in. Rather than confront it.

Simin: Sorry, it hasn't been a week since I left, and look what happened!
