cruelty

The individual's resistance to the establishment seems to be an eternal movie theme. The ultimate charm of this type of film is no longer in What, but in How. In the Palme d'Or award-winning film "The Lobster" the "establishment" is set up as a society against loners - loneliness is not only shameful, it is sinful. Anyone who is alone will be sent to a sanatorium to find a partner within a time limit, otherwise he will become an animal.

Interestingly, many people would rather be animals than fake a relationship and make do with a partner.

So there is a male protagonist to fight. He escaped and joined the resistance in the woods.

That's when the movie really gets interesting—the woods are also organized, just the opposite: anyone who develops feelings for someone else gets slaughtered.

In the end, the hero and heroine still embark on their desperate path.

It must be said that this dystopian film is very unique in its conception. It is a thought-provoking film about the conflict between human individuality and sociality. At the same time, the film production is excellent, the cinematography is excellent, and the character performances are also in place. But this film is still not my dish, without him, it is too depressing and too sadistic.

Then I decided to skip the art films at Cannes and go to the Golden Globes and Oscar nominees. God! Let me go back to the mainstream.

The Lobster quotes

  • Biscuit Woman: Can I come to your room sometime for a chat? I could give you a blowjob. Or you could just fuck me. I always swallow after fellatio and I've got absolutely no problem with anal sex if that's your thing. My ex-husband always used to say I had the most beautiful thighs he'd ever seen, but let's not talk about him.

  • Trainer Waiter - Shooting Range: It's no coincidence that the targets are shaped like single people and not couples.
