Utopia, the only love

Lazy and romantic Italian town, an encounter arranged by fate, happened in just six weeks, from the beginning of restraint, temptation, to later confession, love, to the final farewell, reluctance. Elio's youthful budding breath, revealing talent, passionate love, oliver's mature charm, and forbearance and restraint in his character make the whole film full of dramatic conflict. One of the most touching passages is that Elio played the piano for Oliver, changed and arranged the music, and was attracted by Elio's talent.

I was moved by what Elio's father said to him: You are too smart to not understand how rare and special the bond between you is. He's not just smart. Everything between the two of you has something to do with cleverness and nothing to do with it. He is kind and you both are lucky to find each other because you are also kind. Listen, you have a wonderful friendship. Perhaps beyond friendship. I admire you. From my standpoint, many parents would wish the whole thing was over, or pray for their son to get back on his feet soon. But I am not such a parent. From your standpoint, if there is pain, look after it; if there is a fire, don't quench it, and don't treat it roughly. It may be bad to keep us awake at night, but it's not much better to see others forget about us before we are willing to be forgotten. In order to cure problems with unreasonably fast speed, we rob ourselves of so much that we are bankrupt before the age of thirty. Every time you start a relationship again, you have less to give. What a waste not to feel in order not to feel it! Then let me say one more thing. Doing so will clear the grievances between us. I may have been close, but never had what you have. There is always something stopping or hindering me. How you live is your business. But remember, our hearts, spirits, and bodies are unique. Many people live as if they have two people to live, one model and one finished product, and there are even versions in between. But you only have one life, and before you finally realize it, your heart is weary. As for your body, there will come a day when no one will look at it, let alone approach it. Now I feel very sorry. I do not envy the pain itself. But I envy your pain. We may never talk about it again, but I hope you don't prejudice me for tonight. If one day you want to talk to me and you feel the door is closed or not open enough, then I will be a terrible father.

A pair of enlightened parents made Elio not worry too much when facing sudden feelings, because he loves, so he loves. God has given us our bodies and souls, and we only have one life. I prefer to experience, fall in love with an interesting soul, and share the joys, sorrows and joys of my life with her (him).

Looking forward to the second brush and discover new inspirations...

Call Me by Your Name quotes

  • Oliver: The Cosmic Fragments by Heraclitus: The meaning of the river flowing is not that all things are changing so that we cannot encounter them twice, but that some things stay the same only by changing.

  • Annella Perlman: [Reading from The Heptaméron] A handsome young knight is madly in love with a princess, and she too is in love with him, though she seems not to be entirely aware of it. Despite the friendship that blossoms between them, or perhaps because of that very friendship, the young knight finds himself so humbled and speechless that he is totally unable to bring up the subject of his love. Until one day he asks the princess point-blank: Is it better to speak or to die?

Elio: I'll never have the courage to ask a question like that.

Mr. Perlman: I doubt that. Hey, Elly-Belly. You do know that you can always talk to us?
