The narrative of the whole story is very clear, of course, maybe there is a reason why the story is relatively simple, not procrastination, and the plot twists and turns. Not only Tom Cruise, every actor's performance is very tense. Of course, this is a star-studded movie, and even the supporting roles are quite famous, like Bill Nighy, Kenneth Branagh, Tom Wilkinson, no matter the number of roles, they all did what they should do. This time, Tom, as a producer, is commendable for his casting vision.
I can't help but exclaim that Tom is still the most suitable for wearing a military uniform (think Tom in Top Gun and A Few Good Man), and the Colonel Stauffenberg played this time is also really fascinating. I also think that this is the best time for Ah Tang. His acting skills are out, and his eyes are very complicated. He fully shows the might of a soldier and his loyalty to the country, and at the same time he does not lack the tenderness of a man. A few scenes of warm families in the film add a little warm color to this colder film. In the pursuit of faith, he always misses his wife and children. The image of a competent husband and father makes the characters more plump.
Aside from Ah Tang, my favorite in the film is his adjutant. Although I can't name him, it feels good. He has truly "swearing allegiance to the death", and it is to a person who is worthy of him.
The final ending is definitely unpleasant, and people who insist on justice fall first with the devil (this statement needs to be verified, but that is what it means in the movie). We can only imagine that history would have been very different if it hadn't been for Hitler's shit luck and the table leg that saved his life. But history is history, and what has happened cannot be changed, we can only learn from it, just like the sentence on the German Resistance Monument quoted at the end of the film: "You don't have to bear the shame, because you are free and fair. and glory gave his life."
Although a lot of good things have been said, there are still shortcomings. The biggest problem should be the language. Although it is a German story, it is a Hollywood film after all, and most of the actors used are also British, and it is normal to speak English. But when I saw the cold comrade Hitler speak English, I still felt awkward. Then there is not enough foreshadowing in the front, the transformation after Stauffenberg's injury is not strong enough, and the story has always focused on the assassination and coup d'état, and did not compare Hitler's crimes with the Germans at that time. The fanatical performance of Hitler come out. You know, this is very necessary to shape the image of the protagonist from the side. Without this kind of fanaticism, Hitler alone would not be able to call the shots.
In general, this film is quite successful, but it is still not a classic~ I still prefer the film that the Germans made by themselves.
