"As soon as I got in, she jumped off the high stool by the bar and walked right up to me.
" I was shocked. I don't know if she was trying to attack me, based on my past that's the
only explanation for her behavior. But she was smiling. She was exuding emotions I'd never felt before."
"'You let I've been waiting a long time,' she said. "
I don't know when Alice is standing behind me again.
"Then you nodded like a graceful western gentleman and said, 'I'm sorry,
miss .'" Alice laughs at the memory.
Jasper smiled at her. "You stretched out your hand, and I took your hand without knowing it. I did
n't even think about what I was doing. For the first time in a century, I felt hope."
Jasper said and took Alice's hand. .
Alice grinned, "I'm finally relieved. I thought you'd never show up
."
They smiled at each other for a long time before Jasper turned his gaze back to me, the softness still lingering on his
face.
