When happiness plummets, love is a beautiful season of
their encounter, which is the beginning of the book, lyrical and warm. Unlike the beginning of the movie, which was dark in tone at the beginning, the self-narrative of this hero was actually put on hold in the narrative about his daughter at the end of the film.
Their relationship began with the seduction of stockings, Hannah's emptiness and Michael's sprouting, that is, pure desire. During Michael's fourth visit to Hannah's house, Hannah began asking Michael to read to her. The books are happy, moving, and shameful, Hannah can lean back on the bed and smile, lie down on Michael and cry, or accuse in the bathtub. Reading books, having sex; having sex, reading books, I think the real beginning of the relationship should be here.
For four weeks, they needed to be emotionally identified and confirmed each other's presence in each other's minds. Hannah said angrily, "I don't care about you that much." After Michael calmed down, he asked in a pleading tone, "I really don't care?" Hannah didn't answer. Michael continued to ask, "Do you love me." Hannah didn't respond, then shook her head, then nodded again. The relationship between the two of them has never been so vague, we can't be sure how deep their relationship is, and they haven't thought about their future. This is how it all happens, and we are never able to do anything and stand idly by.
During the outing, the clerk thought Hannah was Michael's mother, so Michael gave Hannah a kiss in person. Hannah didn't know it, but she should be the happiest at that time. In the church, Hannah shed tears listening to the chant. At that time, Michael must have loved her very much.
Then came the next fight, where the obstacles of circumstance seemed to arise, and this time the conflict ended with sex. But what followed was Hannah's unannounced farewell. Their love came to an end here, and the subsequent development always brought a shadow of history.
When the judgment comes, dignity is the embodiment of self-existence.
Time jumps to the judgment seat. The image of the Nazis may already be very clear in our minds, and it should not always be Hannah. But it is true that such an ordinary man became a Nazi. She sat there, answering the judge's questions so directly and affirmatively, never guilty. She behaves like this, it seems that it is impossible to imagine that this is a person who is being judged, as if all our anger can't be shed on this woman. She was so genuine and straightforward that the accusation seemed too heavy for her.
The director made a specific reaction with several specific characters. Like the previous description of feelings, neither the writer nor the director intends to make things clear. This time they are unable to answer. Naturally, neither could Michael, and he hesitated at this moment. He went to concentration camps twice, but he was so conflicted with Hannah, he couldn't do it to go to her, because of the betrayal she left, because of the crimes she committed. But she couldn't stand idly by, because she shouldn't be punished too much because she couldn't read. By the way, the crux of the problem is that she is illiterate.
She pleaded guilty in order not to expose the fact that she was illiterate. In the early days of their relationship, Michael once said to her, "I can't live without you so much that even reading is boring." Her movements stopped at that time. She was embarrassed when she couldn't understand the menu when ordering food on an outing. Hannah's departure was due to Siemens' promotion, and she volunteered to be a concentration camp guard in order not to let others know that she was illiterate. Even later, in order to conceal this great shame to her, she would rather sacrifice a lifetime of freedom (and possibly life). Although Hannah has no knowledge, she has dignity. All the previous things have touched her taboos, not to mention that she has so many waiting to be punished in court, wanting to see her make a fool of herself, and cause her to die. people, laugh at her. This dignity is her pride and her happiness.
Hannah was waiting quietly for her visitor to appear. It was snowing outside, and her Kid walked like many others, then left without seeing each other. The snow was just like the first time they parted (Hannah sent Michael home who was sick), soft and delicate, but of a sad nature. This time, it was not parting, but missing. I think she probably knew who the person who came to see her was, but she was disappointed that he never showed up. She knew that the distance between her and him was not only her age, knowledge and past, but also the crimes she had committed. After the sentence was pronounced, she glanced at the audience, and Michael left two lines of tears.
She probably knew what she was doing was wrong. Even if it's wrong, it's still work, and she doesn't regret it. Since it has been done, what is the use of repenting and admitting mistakes? at this point. Even after death, the jars and money in the last words could not explain anything. Whether the Jewish mother and daughter forgave her or not did not seem to matter to her.
When happiness is gone, everything she once got will become the murderer
Kid who pushed people to hell. Kid did not appear, and she planned to live her prison life in peace. However, those tapes gave her hope again. With the company of his voice, then start literacy, knowledge is what you have been longing for, and the gap with him may be reduced. The more tapes, the higher her cravings, or the more chips she grabs. She was able to write, however, he never replied. But fortunately, the tape is still there, and the string of hope is not broken. Listening to his voice every day and knowing one more word is a luxury happiness for her.
On the eve of her release from prison, she finally met her Kid. He's grown up and she's old. He was married, had children, and he couldn't hold his hand if he wanted to. He asked her if she remembered the past. She thought it was her past with him, but he told her it was what she did. Sure enough, everything was different. But what about her? After leaving him, I have worked hard for many years and spent more than 20 years in prison. Except for his face and knowledge, he has not changed! If the prison life was so dull at the beginning, maybe she could continue to live after her release. However, her prison life was more accompanied by his voice, more romantic novels, more memories of the past, and more hope. The happiness she had hoped for, did not come, has already disappeared. Now it seems that all this so-called more is so unnecessary and so deadly. She chose to die, and she used the book she learned in prison to step on her feet.
In Hannah's world, the film doesn't have the complex dark Nazis. She pursues love and dignity, but she is dying because of these two things. Perhaps what she pursues is too pure, so easy to get and easy to lose.

The years are fleeting, and the beauty is too late. The face without makeup, firm skin, the most beautiful time for a woman is only ten years. When I looked at KATE's sagging breasts, I had to think back to when Rose was lying on the sofa and let JACK paint. The breasts that looked very elastic couldn't be associated with this one. I wickedly thought that the old woman at the beginning of Titanic could let KATE play it herself.
