Traveling through the nebula to an Earth-like planet, but being attacked by a fleet of bees from a bee named Klaw, the Enterprise was severely damaged, and Kirk gave the order to abandon the ship. But most of the crew were still captured by Crowe. Kirk and Chekov, Spock, Old Bones, and Scott fell on different parts of the planet, and the Enterprise crashed on the planet.

Scott was rescued on the planet by a little girl named Zyra and brought him to a starship Franklin that landed on the planet in the last century. In the end, the five assembled on Franklin and set off to Claw's base to rescue their companions.

The rescue was successful and the Franklin was successfully launched to pursue Crow who was going to destroy the Yorktown base. It turned out that Crow was the former captain of the USS Franklin. Using the knowledge of the aborigines of the planet, he acquired the ability to immortalize by absorbing others. He wants revenge on Starfleet. The Franklin defeats Crowe's fleet of bees (a spectacular scene). Crowe boarded the York City base and wanted to release a "toxic agent" in the ventilation pipe, but was stopped by Kirk and used the ventilation pipe to discharge into space and was eroded by the "toxic agent" and died.
