The following text will contain minor spoilers, please decide carefully whether to continue reading this article. Of course, I believe that reading this article will definitely help you understand the film.
With the release of trailers and trailers, Zack Snyder's visual blockbuster "Beautiful Girl" has lifted the hearts of fans higher and higher. However, as a film-related worker, I still know that the film's box office in the North American market was a complete failure. Many film critics constantly criticized the film's plot, but kept praising the visual effects. With this kind of contradictory thought in mind, I bought a movie ticket for this film online on the Cinema Hotline website and watched it.
After watching the whole film, I personally feel that the plot of this film is actually somewhat interesting. From some perspectives, it even has some flavors of "Pirates of Dreams", but one is a dream and the other is a fantasy world. It's a pity that Zack Snyder's screenwriting skills and his handling of visual effects are simply one day and one place! Confused what could have been a pretty good storyline. How it is, depends on the author.
At the beginning of the film, he quickly explained the reason why the protagonist "Doll" was admitted to the mental hospital, and then explained the existence of the "theater": this is a place for these mentally ill people to socialize. According to "Inception": This is the real world.
And then a nightmare scene similar to the "doll" being operated on suddenly switches the time to a background similar to the 1930s and 1940s in the United States. Her demonic father becomes a "priest"; the doctor who accepts bribes becomes a dance The boss of the troupe; the female psychological counselor became the line dance teacher; the mentally ill women became the dancers who were both performing and selling themselves; the behavior of destroying the memory in three days also became the "doll" in three days. The behavior of the package is introduced. At this time, the only connection with the real world is that the "doll" holding his new clothes looks exactly the same as holding his sick clothes in the mental hospital. It is at this level that "Doll" gets to know her companions: "Rocket", "Blonde", "Amber", and "Sweet Bean". According to "Inception", this is the first layer of fantasy world. But here, we can clearly find that everything actually has a corresponding relationship with the real world.
Then, during a dance performance, "Doll" entered her second fantasy world, where she met the guide, knew what she needed to find, and entered the jaw-dropping visual effects time. Through her first fight with three giant samurai warriors, she finally strengthened her faith. But here, the second-layer fantasy world is completely unrelated to the first-layer fantasy world, and only uses a scene with great visual impact to describe her (their) thoughts or behaviors in the first-layer world.
However, the relationship between these three worlds is chaotic as described by director Zack Snyder!
Zack Snyder's original idea should be simple, use the performance of the first fantasy world to map the real world behavior, and use the second fantasy world to map the behavior of the first fantasy world with the combat of the second fantasy world. For example, in the scene of stealing a lighter, in real life, it should be the same as in the first layer of fantasy world. How to get the doorman's lighter. As for how to steal it, I don't know. Maybe it is the same temptation as the first layer of fantasy space, or there may be other methods, but through the fierce battle in the second layer of fantasy world, I can tell everyone: the stealing was successful!
In fact, the three worlds were originally represented by Schneider: the girls in the real world wore sick clothes, the girls in the first fantasy world wore dancing girls' clothes in the 1930s and 1940s, and the second fantasy world The world is a battle suit; the lens tone of the real world is dark, the lens tone of the first layer of fantasy world is bustling, and the lens tone of the second layer of fantasy world is fantasy.
The distinction between these three worlds can be seen by the vast majority of viewers, which is what Schneider hopes. But it is this simple distinction that completely messes up the chef and the kitchen!
"Doll" met "Rocket" in the kitchen, where "Rocket" was peeling potatoes, "Doll" was mopping the floor, and they were all dressed in shabby patient clothes. Think about it, if you are a dancer in the first-level fantasy world who has to perform and sell herself, how could the boss let them do such a thing? What's more, the overall picture style is more like the gloomy style in real life. But in the actual movie, these shots describe the story in the first layer of fantasy world. In addition, compared with other characters in the first-level fantasy world, who have a completely different role and appearance, the role of the chef is almost the same as the real world image. In addition, there is no special lens for switching between the first layer of the world and the real world to inform you that I am switching the world here (there is an obvious rotating lens when entering the second layer of the fantasy world). Therefore, many viewers here are conditioned to confuse it with the real world layer. And because of the confusion here, the plot is very misleading. Imagine if the story backgrounds of "Inception" are all in a rainy world that is similar to darkness, would you also look at it very confusing?
To be honest, except for this point, the other parts are OK. But this big chaotic point makes the whole play feel like "a drop of mouse feces ruins a pot of porridge". I hope that it can be improved in Zack Snyder's next work "New Superman", after all, his skills are enough for visual impact. If we can get rid of the weaknesses of traditional script description, Zach Snyder's box office performance should be even better!

But it's come to my attention-- it's come to our attention... that a few bad eggs... led by one little egg in particular... have spit in the face of that generosity... and are plotting against me. Me. Your father. Your lover. Your employer. Plotting to take from me my most precious possessions. Your very selves.
