Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald
In the first part, everyone thought it was just a sideshow of HP, a bit like Rowling and the manufacturer's peripheral attempt after selling HP. But Grindelwald opened up a whole new world.
Depp and Jude Law are really strong, handsome from young to old monsters, very powerful, and they are demagogic speakers. Grindelwald and Depp are literally the same person. The actor's own temperament completely fits the role, and the result is that everyone is very comfortable to watch. The British-style writing and performances are permeated with Shakespeare flavors, which is what we often call the cultural heritage. This is something that Hollywood factory movies cannot match.
Secondly, the dramatic conflict has left the school's restrictions in HP, and the time and space of play is larger, and the plot between adults is more complicated and treacherous than that of middle school students. As a children's book, HP has a deep fairy tale color. In order to highlight the trio, it greatly weakens the ability and wisdom of adults such as Dumbledore. It is not difficult to see that the HP series, starting from the Goblet of Fire, involves the hardships and darkness that are commonplace in the adult world, such as death and suffering. As a prequel, this film unlocks the bloody reality of the magical world.
In terms of the plot setting, the serial reversal of changing children, the complicated four-cornered romance, and the confusing confrontation make the film very tight in rhythm. With more information, it is easy for the audience to feel that the film is "unknown and serious". It may be the same content that the HP series will take a long time to fully describe. But real life doesn't give people a chance to breathe, and a series of changes just follow one after another so unreasonably.
In addition, the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald is still a big bright spot in the current environment. Asian actors have more weight, but Nagini is of Korean descent, Krall is a Danish half-Japanese, and the only Chinese "person" is the big cat, I hope Chinese actors can appear on such a stage soon.
