A very similar structure to Amy, but Nina Simone's fate is more bumpy, and the significance of the times is greater. The film is more like an explanation for the creative background of each of her songs: music runs through her life, and her life runs through that era.

It's really weak compared to Amy - is the director trying to tell a story about a genius who is tired of fame, a story about a civil rights fighter, a story about escaping the world in search of utopia, or a story about a jazz musician who is Bach in his bones, I didn't figure it out myself. Nor is it a good documentary to tell the whole story in its entirety, although paranoia is more abhorrent (winter on fire).
