Jason Tripitikas: I can't understand you.
Lu Yan: That's because you're not listening!
-
Jason Tripitikas: He needs wine. It's his elixir.
Medicine Monk: We will send a walking monk.
Lu Yan: Don't you have a running monk?
-
The Silent Monk: But, he's not even Chinese.
-
The Monkey King: You have freed me traveller, now go free yourself.
-
Lu Yan: Don't tell me you consider it sinful to drink.
The Silent Monk: It's sinful if you don't share.
-
Lu Yan: It is said that master and student walk side-by-side, sharing their fate, until they go their separate ways.
Jason Tripitikas: I'll never forget you.
Lu Yan: I guess that's what being immortal truly means.
-
Lu Yan: [the Silent Monk does a Praying Mantis stance] Praying Mantis! Very good... for catching bugs! But not Tiger!
[does a Tiger Stance]
-
Golden Sparrow: [as she lies dying] Jade Warlord?
Jason Tripitikas: [tearfully] He's dead.
Golden Sparrow: I... I thank you.
-
Jason Tripitikas: [seeing guards approaching] What do we do now?
Lu Yan: How good is your Gung-fu?
[Jason stares at Lu Yan]
Lu Yan: He who speaks, does not know; He who knows, does not speak. Surely you're masterful.
-
Golden Sparrow: She should have killed you, witch!
Ni Chang: Not if I kill you first, orphan bitch!
-
Golden Sparrow: Come drink with me.
-
Jason Tripitikas: You think you'll teach me the No Shadow Kick? Oh, and the Buddha Palm Technique. There's a guy in Virtua Fighter 2, who does the Buddha Palm Technique.
[Lu gives him a cup]
Jason Tripitikas: Thanks, Lu. And he does the Iron Elbow. And he does the One Finger Death Touch.
[the cup starts overflowing]
Jason Tripitikas: The cup's full. Stop! It's full!
Lu Yan: Exactly, how can you fill your cup if already full? How can you learn Kung Fu, you already know so much. No Shadow Kick, Buddha Palm! Empty your cup.
[Jason empties his cup]
Lu Yan: [looks at him in surprise] Hopeless. It is hopeless!
-
Lu Yan: When I was your age, I was a scholar-warrior in training. My arrow was good, so too my kung fu. I was chosen to take the seven exams. To pass would place me among a short line of scholar immortals. I failed.
Jason Tripitikas: You're not immortal?
Lu Yan: If one does not attach himself to people and desires, never shall his heart be broken... But then, does he ever truly live? I'd rather die a mortal, with a care for someone, than to live as an immortal free from his death.
Jason Tripitikas: I don't wanna lose you.
Lu Yan: Forget about me.
-
Lu Yan: Jump!
Jason Tripitikas: [stops before leaping from a roof] I don't think so!
Lu Yan: Don't think, just do!
-
The Silent Monk: What about the two tigers on one mountain?
Lu Yan: We can kill each other later.
-
Ni Chang: How romantic. Men will tell you what you want to hear, Sparrow. But in the end, they will leave you with nothing.
-
[the Jade Warlord tricks the Monkey King into becoming a statue]
Jade Warlord: Martial art is based on deception, my friend.
-
[Lu Yan meets the Silent Monk for the first time]
Lu Yan: Ahh, good to get off my feet! Long day. So, where you from? Shangdong Province? You look like the Shangdong Province type. You come here often?
[the Monk doeesn't answer]
Lu Yan: That staff doesn't belong to you. You have to give it to me, or somebody might get hurt.
-
Jason Tripitikas: Is this a dream?
Lu Yan: No, Where you came from is the dream, Through The Gate of No Gate.
Jason Tripitikas: What is that, like a wormhole or something?
Lu Yan: No, It means. You are either a Zen Master or You carry something very special.
Jason Tripitikas: [Pointing towards the staff] This? It was in a pawnshop waiting for a man to pick it up and return it to it's rightful owner. What?
-
Jade Warlord: [looking at Jason] The seeker from the prophecy. Not quite what I expected.
Jason Tripitikas: A man is dying on Song Mountain. I need the elixir.
Jade Warlord: The power to save a life, for the power to rule a kingdom. A most generous offer. This man... a good friend?
Jason Tripitikas: And a good teacher.
Jade Warlord: The man who honors his teacher honors himself.
-
Jade Warlord: No more weapons, no more Chi magic. Fist against fist.
-
[the Monk assists Jason in his training]
Lu Yan: Hey, he's my student, not yours! Two tigers cannot live on the same mountain. Likewise, two teachers cannot have the same student!
-
Old Man Hop: [to Jason] You been watching too much Hong Kong Phooey...
-
Old Man Hop: [pushing the staff into Jake's hands] here! Take it! Return it to its owner!
-
[Hop is assisted by paramedics onto a stretcher]
Jason Tripitikas: How is he?
Paramedic: Bullet missed his heart. He'll live.
Old Man Hop: [whispering, only Jake hears him] Of course I'll live. I'm immortal.
[Hop beckons Jake to his side]
Old Man Hop: Did you return that thing I gave you?
Jason Tripitikas: Yeah, I did.
Old Man Hop: You the man.
-
[last lines]
Lu Yan: And as one legendary journey ended for the Traveller, so did another journey begin.
-
The Silent Monk: But do not name it my friend, for it's like water; nothing can overcome water, yet it can overcome rock. It does not fight; it moves around the opponent, boneless, nameless. The true master dwells within. Only you can be free.
-
Lu Yan: A musician can have Kung Fu, or the poet who paints pictures with words and makes emperors weep, this too is Kung Fu.
-
The Silent Monk: Learn the form, but seek the formless. Hear the soundless. Learn it all, then forget it all. Learn The Way, then find your own way.
-
Lu Yan: Innkeeper, more wine!
Jason Tripitikas: Jeez, Don't you think you've had one too many?
Lu Yan: Wine is mine inspiration. In some parts, I'm known as the poet
[Cheers]
Lu Yan: In other parts, I am known as the beggar.
[when the innkeeper brings the bill, He passes it over to Jason]
-
Jason Tripitikas: [Crossing the desert to get to the mountains. Jason sits next to the Silent Monk] We're not going to make it are we?
The Silent Monk: [No response]
Jason Tripitikas: What if I can't handle it? What if I freeze?
The Silent Monk: [Monk slowly turns and smiles] Don't forget to breathe.
-
Lu Yan: You try to steal the staff for the Warlord!
The Silent Monk: NO, FOOL! I'm on a mission to find the Seeker of the staff!
-
Old Man Hop: Only storage back here.
Jason Tripitikas: Where did you get this?
-
Jason Tripitikas: I don't know, Where I am? How I got here? Who were those guys want to kill me. Whatever, You did back there was sick!
-
Lu Yan: No, Drunken fist. Secret Kung Fu after South. I'm Lu Yan, Traveling scholar. What land do you have come from? Monk,
Jason Tripitikas: I'm not a monk. I'm Jason Tripitikas from South Boston. Is this a dream?
Lu Yan: No, Where You came from is the dream. Throught The Gate of No Gate.
Jason Tripitikas: Is that like a wormhole or something?
Lu Yan: No, It means. You're either a Zen Master or You carry something special.
Jason Tripitikas: [Pointing towards the staff] This? It was in a pawnshop, Waiting for a man to pick it up and return it to it's rightful owner. What?
Lu Yan: It's long been foretold, That a seeker will come to return the staff and end the reign of Jade Warlord.
Jason Tripitikas: Return the staff to who?
Lu Yan: The Monkey King. Born of a stone, On the Mountain of Fruit and Flowers. With his weapon in hand. His Chi became like fire. His stick fighting like magic. He defied the order of the land. But, Jade army could not defeat him. The Monkey King crushed every soldier sent to stop him. With his Magical Staff, He was unbeatable. Word of his disobedience. Traveled deep within The Forbidden Kingdom. To The Five Elements Mountain. Land of The Immortals. Once every 500 years. The Jade Emperor hosts The Peach Banquet. -
Lu Yan: Satisfied all was well in heaven and earth. The Supremely High Emperor left to begin his 500 years meditation, leaving The Jade Warlord in charge by mandate of heaven. But, Rather than obey The Jade Emperor's command. The Warlord challenged The Monkey King to a duel, High Top Five Elements Mountain in The Warlord's palace. The Battle of Immortals was fought. To prove once and all Whose skills were supreme.
Jade Warlord: Most excellent stick fighting, Sun Wukong. But without your weapon, You're nothing. But, A lowly hermit. No more weapons, No more Chi Magic. Fist against fist.
Lu Yan: The Monkey King was too trusting and believed The Warlord's words. Lying down his magic weapon.
Lu Yan: Realizing, He'd been tricked, The Monkey King cast the staff out into The Middle Kingdom.
Jade Warlord: [The Jade Warlord deceives The Monkey King and says] Hmm, Martial Art is based on deception. My friend. Being Immortal The Monkey King could not be killed, Only trapped in stone. Where he waits for the seeker from the prophesy to return to him his great weapon and finally free him. That's what I heard. Anyway, Long time ago.
Jason Tripitikas: How long has he been imprisoned?
Lu Yan: 500 Hundred years, Give or take a few decades. They say. When The Monkey King is free. The Jade Emperor will return.
Jason Tripitikas: How do I get home?
Lu Yan: You must return the staff to Five Elements Mountain, You must free The Monkey King.
Jason Tripitikas: I can't free The Monkey King, I gotta get home.
-
Jade Soldier: Where did you get that weapon?
-
Lu Yan: It's fake, You can find anything these days on the silk road.

Golden Sparrow: Bounty hunters trying to stop her from reaching The Five Elements Mountain.
