Run Lola Run Quotes

  • Herr Schuster: The ball is round, a game lasts 90 minutes, everything else is pure theory. Off we go!

  • [first lines]

    [subtitled version]

Narrator: Man... probably the most mysterious species on our planet. A mystery of unanswered questions. Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? How do we know what we think we know? Why do we believe anything at all? Countless questions in search of an answer... an answer that will give rise to a new question... and the next answer will give rise to the next question and so on. But, in the end, isn't it always the same question? And always the same answer?

  • Manni: What if I were in a coma, and the doc says, "One more day?"

Lola: I'd throw you into the ocean... Shock therapy.

  • [flashback to conversation between Lola and Manni]

Lola: Manni - you're not dead yet.

[cuts back to Manni dying on the road after being run over by an ambulance]

    Manni: I'm not?

  • [last lines]

Manni: [to Lola] What's in the bag?

  • Lola: Who's that slut?

  • Herr Schuster: [when Lola arrives at the bank for the "third" time] Are you here at last, honey?

  • Herr Meier: Is everything all right?

    Lola: No.

  • Vater: To think that I could have fathered a loon like you!

Lola: But you did, you jerk!

Vater: Oh, yeah? Your real father didn't even live to see your birth!

  • Manni: [over the phone] Help me, Lola! I don't know what to do!

  • Manni: What happened to you? Did you run here?

The gears of fate lead us to similar processes and different endings. The first two endings of you and I were meant to usher in endings that we felt were more plausible. Manny's line in bed is classic: If I die, you'll be sad for a few weeks and then find someone to cry and fall into his arms and forget about me. The most prominent point of this film is to tell people that it is not Lola's view of love, but that all decisions and actions of a person guide the fate of those around them

I really like Laura running fast to tear a scene into countless plots and split into countless individuals like magic... It's amazing!
