The dullness of the film and the dullness of the protagonist are simply the same. "Inciting the priest" is the only scene where the protagonist "holds the scene", and this little "yang" is only for a deeper dullness. So the film can't bring entertainment, but Al Pacino's performance does show the decadence of the protagonist, which makes people feel pity.
