More than just a broken egg story
It's hard to imagine that "The Diehard" is a directorial debut. The overall feel of the film is rather melancholy and gloomy. The proportion of "crime" and "action" is not large. Their existence is mainly to create the source of dramatic conflict, not the process of expression.

Thoughts on a few details in the movie
I have read a lot of film reviews, most of which are based on the overall evaluation of the story, so there is no need to repeat it here. I think the themes of the film are growth, self-definition, self-acceptance, and seeking acceptance. There are a few places that I think can be discussed...
