Ghosts of the Night is visually intended to recreate expressionism in the context of a sound film, but that doesn't mean it's Murnau, nor Bramstock. Until the symbol of the rat population in the space of civilized society hints to the audience that it is "Made by Herzog" and prompts to recall its beginning: the documentary of stone statues and bats. The version below is too crappy to appreciate...I can see that the framing shot is well done by the actor, Adjani Kinski Gantz. But the talking Nosferatu turned into a not-so-smart chatter.
