The film is the first 3D action war movie in China. It took seven years to build. "Wolf Warriors" truly presents a Sino-foreign border war. It also makes the special forces team and high-energy warriors called "Wolf of the East" land on the big screen for the first time. It tells the legendary story of a small person growing into a lone hero who saves the fate of the country and the nation.
The film was released nationwide on April 2, 2015.
On June 20, 2015, "Wolf Warriors" won four awards at the Jackie Chan International Action Film Week for Best Action Film, Best Action Actor, Best Stunts, and Best Fighting Scene Design.
On August 6, 2016, the Organizing Committee of the 20th Huading Awards announced the list of the top 50 films in Hong Kong, and the film "Wolf Warriors" topped the list.
On September 7, the film won the Best Screenplay Award, Best New Director Award, Best Action Film Director Award, Best Film Producer Award, and the first place in the film satisfaction survey at the 20th Huading Awards.
On September 24, the film won the Outstanding Film and Best Newcomer awards at The 33th Hundred Flowers Awards .
