      Rumble and Alienation in Turkey

      walk in the void

"From a large chunk of time made up of huge and solid life events, the unnecessary parts of it are cut off and discarded, leaving only the constituent elements of the finished product, so as to complete the shaping of time." Ceylon's film is like "carving time" ”, non-story, non-dramatic, more like poetry and prose in literary creation - “focusing on human consciousness and emotional relationship, and focusing on exploring the proposition of human nature to choose and break free of existence...

Born on the same earth, living in a different world

#Recommended#Ceylon's "Hibernation" and "Wild Pear Tree"

What you see and what you think is just what you think. The #unspeakable# in the heart of oneself and others is the one that truly hits and reaches people's hearts, and is also the most important and most weighty.

These two dramas perfectly interpret the fate of "people are born to be alone". #Born on the same earth, living in a different world#

Everyone lives in the "meaning" that they weave. But between the reality,...

like the slow pace of winter

Sometimes it's really hard for us to understand what another person thinks, and we can't speculate without knowing it, like this movie. After reading it twice, I seem to feel that the creator wants to convey something, and I feel as if he didn't say anything, but just threw a series of questions to you, causing you to think, and as for the answer, sorry, you have to do it yourself Look for. Movies are art. A work that cares so much about the beauty of the picture and the content...

The only way is to respect without harassment, without contempt or praise

The most bland but most resonant movie I have ever seen. I don't know what the theme of the whole film is, what I want to express, and what is the main line of the story. I only know the differences between characters, ranging from differences in social status, the poor and the rich, men and women, masters and waiters, to differences in living conditions, some people No worries about food and clothing, life is boring, and there is no freedom. Some people from poor families and children who...

It is often said that the old husband and the young wife are a laughing stock, but after three and a half hours, Aiden's smile drifting in the wind and Nihal's gaze through the window seemed to give people a sense of security in their marriage. Raising a second-in-law daughter-in-law is like driving those well-built horses to exhaust your body and mind; giving blessings to the weak, but withdrawing like an electric shock by stroking the flames with your hands. The old man and the young wife...

The frequent dialogues between people did not show the effect of communication, and the feelings between people were gradually alienated. There are not many deliberate shots, it is natural and plain, the relationship between people, values and many human shortcomings are revealed one by one from the dialogue behavior, but it is never abrupt and preaching, there are a lot of blank spaces, and it is a static film of about three and a half hours. , not a bit dull, and the ups and downs of conflict emotions are also very real, a movie worth watching, and I found that the Chinese and English titles are completely opposite, just look...

    Behind the scenes gags

The original footage of the film reached 200 hours, and the first cut was 4 hours and 30 minutes. It took Ceylon great effort to finally reduce its duration to 3 hours and 15 minutes.
The film won the Palme d'Or in Cannes in 2014, but was eliminated in the first round of the journey to declare the best foreign language film Oscar on behalf of Turkey.

    Positive Reviews for

A slow-paced but intense Turkish work. Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan explored human nature and social issues ambitiously, with far-reaching influence. Ceylon linked the coal mine fire incident in Turkey with his film at the Cannes Film Festival, thinking that the responsibility of the artist is to trigger public thinking about society. ABC believes that this is a very respectable embodiment of the director's professional ethics. ( U.S....

    Negative reviews for

Although "Winter Sleep" has artistic value, it is difficult to be accepted by the public. The story between the three protagonists of the film develops with the advent of winter, and explores each other's vanity and moral concepts in this relationship. Although the filming is beautiful, it often appears that there is no plot change for more than ten minutes, and the plot completely controlled by dialogue makes people who can only watch...
