In my mind, this film is undoubtedly the best work since Auntie "Piano Teacher".
The state of the film is that stateless, even without any contemporary character, the purpose of all the characters has been reduced to the bottom line, on the other hand, it seems very suspicious. The discussions about politics, culture, humanity, and survival are all being held up high. It is very special and rare that such a subject can express reality in this way.
Although Claire Dennis has...

The first question is, “Why did she stay?”, followed by, “How would she stay?” It's perhaps easier to analyze by exclusions: Jean-Marie did NOT stay for political reasons; nor for profit; nor for love of the land or culture (as Dinesen professed to be). In fact, Marie didn't seem to be capable of sentimentalism, let alone living and dying for it.
Clues? “Your father said happiness is not enough for me.”
“I am a good fighter, too. How could I show courage in France? It would be absurd;...

Why can't you let go of all you have here
I watched a French film "White Matter" at night, and I took a tight breath from the beginning, but I didn't vomit it until the end. It is another film about strong white women. It is exactly the same as "Tyke against the Pacific." Hupel is also far away from the French colony. Watching an article about land and harvest, raising a child who is incompatible with each other, Yu Pei You stubbornly struggled, fighting with the sky and the earth and fighting with people, and finally got a miserable...

I heard that it reflects the strength of women. But this movie is really mediocre, procrastinating, boring, and it's a terrible movie.
There are fragments of male dew points around 58 minutes in the film.
The heroine did not want to leave her coffee garden, her husband was killed, her own son set fire to her house, and the heroine finally killed her husband’s father with a stick. The child of the woman whose husband had a good relationship was also killed.
How can French movies...

Huppert, this French woman, is really more flavorful as she gets older. Back then, I only saw a kind of stubbornness in her bones, and rarely saw her smile. Nowadays, I still rarely see her smile. That stubbornness has nurtured an indescribable beauty in the old jar of time. Is it because France is the same as China. The celebrities are not green and yellow, and the younger generation has no appearance, even the position of the vase is praised, and those old dishes have to come out and shoulder...

Silent killing. A sandy story that forms an emotional bond with Pell's performance. The colonial complex of the French is like a love poem with tears, "I am so attached, I cry so much, but you have always regarded me as a 'white...

It's hard not to think of IH's role in "The Dam Against the Pacific Ocean" (which also happens to be her starring role): (original) when the colonial mountains and rains are about to come, they are struggling to support themselves and refuse to give up their homes... thin and shriveled back, ignorant of current affairs , Strong doting mother & weak son... Unstable and stable plot: frequent civil wars, anarchy, scarcity of goods and services, wanton slaughter and looting, radio incitement, child...

Claire Denis is a very important female director today, but this is the first feature I've ever seen of her. Female perspective, female subject matter, feminism. I have always believed that women are more resilient than men, and this film is a proof. The narrative of the film is a bit jumpy, but in a barren, chaotic, and barbaric world, maybe that's how uncertain it...
