      hypocritical

First time watching a Nuer movie, one of the religious trilogy. After reading it, there are quite a lot of highlights, especially some of the plot designs are ironic and imaginative.

The script of the movie is a three-act play. The most powerful is in the last scene, and all the ugliness are shown in the last episode, smashing the goodness shown before, and the hypocritical humanity is fully exposed. This is also a form of rhythm in the narrative of the film.

The road to redemption is full of thorns

A rare ticket at the Shanghai International Film Festival. The SFC Hengshan store has a very good environment and is almost full. Black-and-white film remakes also work well. After watching the various special effects now, watching black and white movies has a special literary and quiet feeling. However, this also has higher requirements for the plot, themes, ideas, actors' acting skills, and film skills of the film. 3 and a half stars overall. The heroine is indeed very beautiful, and she...

The light of reason illuminates the cat

Everything in the world is a metaphor. The lens is simple and full of symbols. There is a certain weirdness in the realism. It is very Buñuel: the soot scattered on the bed heralds death, the portrait of the Virgin with one eye, the rat in the old warehouse The cat, the out-of-control carnival of the homeless, the last supper with a mess of cups and plates with hallelujah, the dagger hidden behind the cross, one dog saved but another... satire of religion

One of Buñuel's religious trilogy, a very wonderful masterpiece. The pious and pure nuns provided food and accommodation for the homeless and sick beggars in the surrounding villages out of selflessness and kindness after the death of their uncles, and called them to divide their labor to build a communist utopia. However, the Virgin Mary and the playboy cousin who came to inherit the family business went to the city to run errands, but everyone broke into the mansion to indulge in...

Too real to cause discomfort. Buñuel's most approachable masterpiece, religious social themes, dystopia, exposes the hypocrisy of religion, the corrupt life of the bourgeoisie, the greed and evil of the poor, and he directs satire to almost every class, with concise stories and sonorous. The audiovisual constructs an apocalyptic picture of capitalist society, and many elements are used well, skipping rope, the Last Supper, chants, poker. Whether surreal or realistic, Buñuel is essentially a...

Therefore, the master hanged himself, the mansion changed hands, the nobility was no longer elegant, and the vassals were holy but unchanged. From the close-up of the feet to see the nature of people, Buñuel's views are undoubtedly pessimistic, but his wit and wit are enough to convince people. To ridicule the blind Christ, the crown of thorns is burnt, and the prelude to the passion is shown with a pan camera. The wishful thinking of benevolence led to the invasion of the proletariat and the...

A tale of the farmer and the snake makes a bold mockery of religion and human nature—it's more important to have faith or stay away from ignorance. Buñuel's style feels a lot like Bresson, but is clearly superior in...

It coincides with my long-standing values: many people are not worthy of sympathy and salvation; sadness and anger are indisputable... Sometimes "sorrow" and "anger" are not necessary. The last three playing cards are also very metaphorical. The original sin is Adam and Eve, but often Adam has more than one...

    Movie plot

Viridiana is a trainee nun, young and quiet. At the invitation of her uncle Don Haimai, she came to his house and stayed for a few days. The uncle found that the face of the niece looked like a dead wife—she died out on the night of her wedding thirty years ago. In order to soothe his lonely heart, he asked Viridiana to wear the bridal gown of his late wife. The housekeeper Ramona understood her intentions and put drugs in the coffee...

    Evaluation action

The plot of "Viridiana" is not complicated, but the structure is very peculiar, with many metaphorical details and echoes. For example, the rope that Don Haimai hangs on is later used by Lamona's little daughter to play a rope skipping game. In addition, there are a series of shocking scenes. For example, at a carnival banquet, a leper-affected beggar draped his wedding gown and danced. Especially the group of men, women, young and old...

    • Viridiana: Mother Superior ordered me to come.

Don Jaime: Do I mean so little to you that she had to order you to come?

Viridiana: Frankly, yes. I'm not a good liar, Uncle. I respect you and I'm grateful for your material support. But beyond that...

      Don Jaime: No affection.

      Viridiana: None.
