This movie seems to be different from the original
If the original book mainly discusses "what kind of man she might find happiness with" (although Henry James also said that she wants to explore life and the world, but the whole book takes the trouble to write about marriage), this film seems to say " She wants to run away from men, no matter who it is." This option was not very feasible in Henry James's time, but in the world around 2,000 years ago, you can see the clues of forming a wave. So the book ends when she gets on the train back...

Lady's true color: narrow-minded man, you make my soul dry
18.12.14★★
(The score here is not high because I like to watch commercial comedy films now, and I am no brainer and happy, this film is too deep)
Wonderful comments from netizens: The woman kept jumping and jumping, the man stood still, and finally she was tired, and he came over and took her away.
It seems to be saying that the requirements of wives and daughters of poor men are more traditional and dogmatic and irresistible.
The rich men in the film...

The insidious things in the looming malevolence in the movie make the time difficult and long, and it is hard not to fall into the inexplicable and profound hatred and scorn for what this man has done to these three women. Pain bites the nose. There are no innocent victims here, and their fate is usually in their own hands. You can give people wealth but not happiness, you can point out people's blindness but can't stop people from being stupid. If you are wrong for a long time, you are...

I haven't read the original book, only the outline, purely for the Mary Sue plot. Thanks to the director for the candy of ralph and isabel at the end (although the emotional transformation blinded me too quickly)
The movie was too depressing, very unhappy, and ended up being abusive, which made me cry non-stop.
I thought that the heroine was a confident, proud and shiny new century female image, but after reading it, I only had the itch of hatred. Hate her for pretending to be...

Between Lord Warburton, who suits his own heart and is perfect in the eyes of his friends, and Osmond, who seems to be elegant and refined in the eyes of others, the sincere Isabelle, who has idealistic and perfectionist tendencies, chooses the latter, and tries to Help him achieve a career to show his otherworldliness.
But in married life, Isabelle discovers the truth about Osmond—on the surface, he sneers at high society and fame and fortune, and is obsessed with the study of...

A story of a downgraded version of "Dangerous Relationships", to put it bluntly, is a story of a Libra woman with all kinds of reserved works and all kinds of hesitation and...

When I saw the ending, a thought lingered in my mind: she actually loved all those who proposed to her, and she subconsciously married a man who was hypocritical, selfish, indifferent and good at manipulating others just to punish her loveliness. Those previous rejections were not necessarily because of arrogance, maybe because they thought they were not worthy of...

"A poor girl yearning for a free spirit and a noble spirit, thinking herself to be clear-headed, finds herself crushed in the regular mill." -Henry James. The moment a girl falls in love, she is constantly beautifying each other, repeating the same mistakes countless times, until she steps into marriage, regrets but cannot escape bad...

The first half is procrastinated and the second half is shocking.... This film tells us that when Gu Liang was young, he couldn't be arrogant and couldn't see the truth clearly. The man who silently pays attention to you is a good man... PS. 22 years old Soy sauce Jun Bell is simply...
Gilbert Osmond: I know plenty of dingy people. I don't want to know any more.
Isabel Archer: I'm rather ashamed of my plans. I make a new one every day.
Ralph Touchett: I call a person rich when he can meet the requirements of his imagination.
