      masterpiece, masterpiece

The Phantom of Liberty is Luis Bunuel's penultimate film and the last of a trilogy of narrative experiments in his later years. "Fantôme" (fantôme) comes from the first sentence of the "Communist Manifesto", "a ghost, the ghost of communism, wandering in Europe", which is said to be a tribute to Marx. The subtitles at the opening say that the film is based on a short story by Gustavo A. Becquer. It's just that I don't know which of his stories, so I can't understand it.

      The narrative...

      melancholy

This is like a movie made by a director whose spirit ranges from normal to crazy. It is getting more and more outrageous, and the society looks more and more absurd, but it reminds us that there are still many problems in our society.
The priest was playing cards, the tourists were playing sm in front of them, a certain girl had incest with her nephew, and the little girl was "missing" (in fact, she was always there, but teachers and parents, including herself, thought she was missing, and...

      Buñuel's Declaration of Freedom!

A specter, the specter of communism, roams Europe. All the powers of old Europe, the Pope and the tsar, Metternich and Guizot, the radicals in France and the police in Germany, joined together for the holy encirclement of this ghost.

The opening paragraph of "Communist Manifesto" may be the entry point for interpreting Buñuel's film.

Whether it is a "phantom" or a "ghost", it seems to bring about a kind of confusion:...

Analysis of "The Phantom of Freedom"

The second time I read it, I wrote down my simple understanding

      -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------

Buñuel is a recognized master of surrealism, and the fantastic fantasy atmosphere brought about by his surreal scenes is largely due to his unique approach. Fixing a long shot to produce a neutral and objective perspective, then abruptly panning, zooming and changing it abruptly,...

Take turns in a segment where one actor takes over from another (sometimes belief works better than science) What we say and what we do is always the opposite of the truth You know what a truth is? ! I really can't stand symmetry so cut it on both sides to show you it's the exact...

Decentralized, chain-driven narrative, various surreal plots and images are both absurd and rich in meaning, history, religion, politics, class, and gender are all-encompassing, and the text is extremely strong. It’s hard to even hear a foul language in Buñuel’s films, but his cynicism is...

    Evaluation action

In terms of the purest surrealist works of Luis Buñuel , except for "The Dogs of Andalus", this film is not far behind. The content is like a kaleidoscope of piecing together, there is no clue that affects the theme, and there is no storyline that connects the past and the future, but the mastery of the atmosphere and a high degree of fantasy space. Coupled with the absurdity and bizarreness of the plot in each paragraph, it is...
