      1. Clip

One of my most memorable shots:

He cuts Jonathan in Paris to Ripley in New York; cuts Ripley on the plane to Hamburg to Jonathan on the train to Hamburg, and then Jonathan walks in Hamburg at dawn River shot. The scenes in Hamburg and New York are all on the road by the river.

In Paris, Wenders used a scene called "Little Manhattan," where a replica of the Statue of Liberty was erected on the banks of the Seine. A shot of an urban scene is edited as...

      American Friends--Ripley's Game

Wim Wenders' "American Friend" is probably his most entertaining work, the film based on Patricia Highsmith's famous crime novel "Ripley series" third book "Ripley" game". This book has been adapted to the screen twice, the second time directed by Italian female director Liliana Cavani, best known for her work "The Gatekeeper at Midnight".

The Wenders version ignored Ripley, replaced the protagonist with Jonathan, and ignored the description of the plot, focusing on the...

[Film Review] The American Friend (1977) 7.8/10

At the age of 32, a prolific Wim Wenders forays into adapting Patricia Highsmith's Tom Ripley story to the celluloid screen in his seventh feature, THE AMERICAN FRIEND receives a Cannes main competition entry and stars Dennis Hopper as the self-exile middle-aged Tom Ripley in a cowboy hat living inside a big mansion on his ownsome in Hamburg, partakes in art forgery racket. Nicholas Ray plays a...

Procrastination and tediousness without morals, watch movies carefully

It was supposed to be a compact, refreshing, exciting suspense film, but it turned out to be boring, trivial, and stagnant, comparable to the diary of a primary school student. Before every meaningful shot comes out, it takes more than 60 seconds of foreground scan. When I saw the 50th minute, the key point didn't appear - I was not dizzy because I was cultivated.

"The Genius Ripley" is one of my most admired masterpieces. It makes people worry about a cunning criminal and feel...

      American friend

Based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, the film was a groundbreaking achievement that brought Wenders to the world.
If you only look at the story, the old-fashioned plot is almost lackluster. But it is this kind of story of turning into sesame and rotten millet. In Wenders' lens, it seems that there is divine help.
The movie does not really want to talk about such a complicated plot, but focuses on showing the inner entanglement of the characters and the inexplicable trust and...

Cinefan Robbie Muller Exhibition @ Festival Grand | The motives of the characters cannot be carefully thought out, and they are untenable. It's good to see it as a honeyed love story between the two male protagonists (I later found out that it was adapted from Highsmith's Ripley's Game, and I got this CP for real). There is no qualified violence in this film, all the killing scenes are very gentle, and the theater is full of laughter. How did Bruno die of old age in the car (the cast has two...

In my lifetime, I saw Teacher Wen play Blast and Plasma. . | 20161127 re, because this review has always been bad, I watched it with the low expectations of Mr. Wen's compromise with the business to make a blockbuster, but the result is not very surprising. Re-watching Ripley is completely the incarnation of the United States, all kinds of gadgets representing the United States, and the feelings of love and...

    Movie quotes

    • Tom Ripley: Even this river - this river reminds me of another river.

    • Tom Ripley: I like this room. It's got a good feel to it. It's quiet and peaceful. Just like you. I envy you. The smell of paint and wood. Must be good to work here. Then when you finish something, you can see what you've done.

Jonathan Zimmermann: It's not that easy. Not that safe and easy. What do you make?

Tom Ripley: I make money. And I travel a lot. I'm bringing the Beatles back to Hamburg.

    • Derwatt: I think you're not a very serious man.

Tom Ripley: [Hands Derwatt a wad of cash] I think this is serious. I sold one painting, I'm ready to sell another one.

      Derwatt: How much?

Tom Ripley: That's $2,000 for you. I told you I've got a good eye.

Derwatt: Take care of it. A new one's hard to find.

Tom Ripley: Don't you think I know that?
