      [Film Review] Saint Maud (2019)

Across the pond, SAINT MAUD goes to extremes in a full possession mode, nurse Katie (Clark), converting to Catholicism after a botched attempt to save her patient (but the particulars are in omission), now calls herself Maud, she is assigned a palliative care service to the dancer/choreographer Amanda (Ehle), who is diagnosed with stage four lymphoma...

It’s good to have faith, but don’t be paranoid, or you will only get deeper and deeper, unable to extricate yourself, and eventually you will become a mentally ill person.

Another movie that I watched several times before I slept. In the end, when the patient taken care of by the heroine suddenly exorcated the whole movie, the film that seemed to be warm and swallowing water suddenly felt a bit of tension. The final self-immolation should have been a scene of my own imagination. The final scream revealed that everything was the destruction of self-conception.

The hostess took over for others to take care of a terminally ill patient, slowly began to...

      The deepest loneliness

The reason why I love this movie is probably because it is finally not a cliché story about how poor people fell into the abyss. Maude’s destruction was attributed to her deepest loneliness. In the eyes of others, she has an enviable career, a life of economic freedom, and a bright future. Perhaps because of this, the wall between her and the outside world became more prominent, and the more she wanted to get attention and understanding from others, the harder it was to achieve...

A religious horror genre film that evaluates both polarities

In recent years, the films produced by A24 have led a new wave of so-called religious horror : "Night Visit", "A Midsummer Night Before", "Genetic Doom" and "Lighthouse", all giving people a refreshing experience. Different from the traditional bloody scenes and scary techniques, the A24 series of horror genres often use unconventional means to arouse the audience's uneasiness, adding a lot of...

      Respect death

Simply sort out the plot of my personal understanding: Katie is a medical staff, is terminally ill (presumably), and has had an accident, so she converted to God, changed her name to Maud, and later did Amanda's personal care.

Maude is a "pious" believer, and he has continuously sensed the existence and guidance of God (although those are probably hallucinations caused by illness and psychological shadows) and gained the power of faith from it.

The last second of the movie is a touch of magic! This second is simply full of stamina, there is no reversal, but the theme of the story is shining vividly! Perhaps what the film wants to depict is how personal beliefs affect or even manipulate one's behavior in a lonely and world-weary environment, but without the correct guidance, turning a feather into a fairy can only be a idiotic...

It can be seen that the cost is very low, and the story is straightforward and simple. You can see the bottom at a glance. But this type of self-destructive story has a special appeal. The photography and setting are good, and the heroine's loneliness and trauma can be resonant. The last beach scene was great. And there is an unexpected...
