Who is the devil and who rides with
It's just that I can't write a short review, it's not a movie review. The title is something I haven't figured out yet after reading it. Saying "everyone is" is lazy.
Some full shots make people feel that the director really has an imperceptible warmth. The play next to the campfire is brilliantly lit and reminiscent of a Rembrandt painting. BGM is as high as ever. Jake burst into tears when he read the letter to Holt. After Holt asked "You know my full name?" they were no longer...

I like this movie very much. Although the war and the cruelty of human nature in the middle made me unbearable to watch it, Uncle An described the American Civil War from a rare southern perspective and the perspective of two outsiders. After watching the whole movie, I feel that no matter whether the South or the North, people have no victory in the face of war. Later, all I feel is confusion and confusion. Who are you fighting for? Why World War II, the reasons are becoming more and more...

It's a wonderful film that deserves to be re-savoured again and again. Ang Lee will never disappoint.
Although this film is not like an ordinary war film, the enemy and the enemy are clearly fierce and shocking. Maybe it was coldly received in the United States because of this, but it is precisely the greatness of this film. Ang Lee does not want to use sensational plots and shocking audio-visual stimulation. The result of the audience will only increase the hostility of the society,...

On Ang Lee's "Ride with the Devil"
When a war is happening around us, both sides of the war hold different positions and different political views, and infiltrate and spread among our relatives, friends, and neighbors. At this point, you must consider choosing one of the sides and choose to draw the line! Because I don't know when, some people began to be killed inexplicably! Maybe it was just inadvertently expressing different opinions incorrectly, or maybe it was accidentally the object of venting on both sides. Judging from...

Falling in front of theatre traditions
Ang Lee's movie characters have a sense of displacement like his own. The rich content of a Civil War movie should have caused a lot of discussion. Unfortunately, the Civil War under the mainstream values should be "the justice of the north liberates the black slaves" like this It's a cliché, and most people think that the North is just right even if it has shortcomings. It is unfortunate that this film with sufficient historical research came out.
According to Ang Lee's oral...

Ang Lee's Civil War. The last scene saw tears, youth and friendship in the fire, this is probably the time and people that will be missed for decades in life in the future. The first half was a bit difficult for me who didn't know the modern history of the United States. The names of places, cities, and people that kept popping up were forgotten at a glance, which led to a bit of boredom. It wasn't until about 20 minutes later that the massacre that broke out suddenly woke me up, and then I...

A rare Civil War film from the perspective of the Confederate Army, it focuses more on the depiction of individuals in the war, and is full of tenderness in cruelty. Daniel said that he loved George very much, but at the moment of George's death, he felt real freedom. In other words, do everything in...

10/03/06 The American Civil War shot by Ang Lee is of course not a war movie, not an epic movie. It's a boy's growth. It's a good life to live in the East. I saw a sweet and warm picture - breastfeeding a child is very Ang...
Black John: Don't think you are a good man. The thought will spoil you.
Mr. Evans: You ever been to Lawrence KS young man?
Jack Bull Chiles: [scoffs] No, I reckon not Mr. Evans. I don't believe I'd be too welcome in Lawrence.
Mr. Evans: I didn't think so. Before this war began, my business took me there often. As I saw those northerners build that town, I witnessed the seeds of our destruction being sown.
Jack Bull Chiles: The foundin' of that town was truly the beginnin' of the Yankee invasion.
Mr. Evans: I'm not speakin' of numbers, nor even abolitionist trouble makin'. It was the schoolhouse. Before they built their church, even, they built that schoolhouse. And they let in every tailor's son... and every farmer's daughter in that country.
Jack Bull Chiles: Spellin' won't help you hold a plow any firmer. Or a gun either.
Mr. Evans: No, it won't Mr. Chiles. But my point is merely that they rounded every pup up into that schoolhouse because they fancied that everyone should think and talk the same free-thinkin' way they do with no regard to station, custom, propriety. And that is why they will win. Because they believe everyone should live and think just like them. And we shall lose because we don't care one way or another how they live. We just worry about ourselves.
Jack Bull Chiles: Are you sayin', sir, that we fight for nothin'?
Mr. Evans: Far from it, Mr. Chiles. You fight for everything that we ever had, as did my son. It's just that... we don't have it anymore.
Sue Lee Shelly: Are you a virgin?
